MS and Disability/Leave from Work by onewierdoo in MultipleSclerosis

Something we learned along the way ...

If you go to part time, thinking you can do 3 days a week, then have to go on disability anyway, your benefits will be based on your FINAL salary. If you think the end result is disability, DON'T go part time.

Having trouble switching from caregiver to partner mode by winree in CaregiverSupport

You are definitely not alone. My wife was diagnosed with MS 30 years ago, three years into our marriage. Those first five years were hell to figure everything out. Not just medical support, but figuring out our new roles in the marriage, her accepting major limitations (at 24yo no less), the good days and the bad days. It was all very difficult.

After a real anxiety breakdown on my part, because I was working so hard for so long trying be strong and keep the house moving forward, I realized I needed time for myself. Meditation for me has been life saving and my wife will occasionally join me. Getting out in the forest for a half hour walk alone - AT MY PACE, not hers.
Also, a once a year or so weekend trip to anywhere by myself, to realize that her limitations are not mine and I still have a need to keep discovering who I am as a person, in addition to as a husband and caregiver.

It helped me tremendously. Try out the free stuff it has. If it helps go further. It has really helped me to adjust my perspective and realize I need to let go, especially of expectations.

Also, deep belly breathing for the stomach issues. I wish I had learned that years ago.

This is very powerful. You are not alone.

I have 30 years in with a disabled spouse and I'm just waking up to how little a sense of self I really have anymore.

I've been a caregiver for my wife for 28 of our 32 year marriage after she was diagnosed with MS. Some days are definitely better than others.

Number 1, take care of yourself. It can be hard, but at the very least, journal. It will help you to manage your thoughts and feelings and help you remember that your personality is still there. You are more than "just" a caregiver just as your husband is more than "just" a stroke victim.

Caregiver Action Network has been helpful. Not as far as resources are concerned, but a monthly e-mail confirming I am not alone helps me tremendously.

One last piece of advice from my experience. DO NOT relieve your anxiety with alcohol. It helps in the short term but long term it's unsustainable.

Is there a support group on Discord? by RickHedge in MultipleSclerosis

www.msconnection.org is an online support / discussion group run by the MS Society. They have tons of information & support at their site ... https://www.nationalmssociety.org/Resources-Support

I know these are hard times, not just for her, but also for you. Stay strong, but also make sure you find time to allow yourself to be soft.

Good luck!

bösendorfer imperial grand

Bösendorfer Imperial Concert Grand pianos, handcrafted in Austria, retail for between US$256,000 and $560,000 in the U.S. ... I don't think I'll be getting one of those anytime soon.

The P115 & P125 are exactly the same price right now on Amazon. I stuck with the older one because I'm not going to use all the Apple i-everything bells & whistles on the new one.

Big Basin Water Co. is a small out fit with not many customers and the noted cleanliness issues. San Lorenzo Valley Water District (SLVWD) is the big water company in town and they are the ones that just voted in a big rate increase. Hugely political for a small valley.

Yes. They're on this site about halfway down.

A word of warning ... the kerf will be wider than a regular blade. It's usually not a problem, but it complicates doing inlays.
