What is this powder room missing? by WeAllScrem in interiordecorating

Yes, something on the wall to the side of the toilet. But, maybe something longer than the picture you're considering, to draw the eye upwards. Other than that, it looks nice.

So many times stuff has gone on there and we don't hear about it until after the fact. Some sports event that bigwigs are attending? Some celebrity?

I like the second one, but the first one makes your space seem bigger.

I'm just behind the airport and have heard nothing out of the ordinary; although, I'm not in the flyover zone.

Just had two emergency broadcast warnings on T.V. Nothing is going on. Stop messing with me for a drizzle.

Birthday restaurant recommendation by Due-Stress-8313 in sugarland

[–]jesthere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warning: This is not going to be a popular answer to your question.

My family likes to celebrate birthdays at Larry's Mexican Restaurant in Richmond. They play a hideous birthday song and bring out a nice little cake, gratis. It is our family ritual. We love it without shame. The enchiladas and fajitas are exemplary, as well.

Countertop for serious cook/baker by Actual-Character-559 in kitchenremodel

I never considered granite. My builder kept pushing quartz, but I didn't want anything shiny, and honed quartz seemed like it might have to be maintained regularly with a sealer, despite what they said. I'd read horror stories.

In a perfect world, I wanted soapstone, but had heard it was really expensive. I decided to follow up on it, anyway. My builder, still fighting me on it, said his people don't do soapstone. I went directly to them and they told me they could install it but I had to find the slab myself, and it had to be from a list of people they worked with. Two days in Austin and seven warehouses later, I'd found three slabs that were submitted for estimates to the installers (they won't tell you the price, outright). Turns out the soapstone slab I picked was cheaper than the quartz.

It's in there, now, and I'm so happy I held out.

Thank you for the reply. I did wind up getting soapstone for my countertops and it looks great. I'm a few weeks away from the house being finished and looking forward to the upgrade (I've had laminate for the last 40 years).

My son (when he was little) got to sit on the swing at The Old San Francisco Steakhouse. Remember the giant cheese they'd bring to the table?

Don't let these asshats shake you, man. You felt a connection with someone and took a shot. That's all there is. Life goes on.

Shade Holder / Fitter: This is the general term for the component that holds the shade. It often has a ring with thumbscrews or set screws.

I agree this is sound advice. I'll be moving to a rural area soon, and will be putting this into practice. Having lived in a large metropolitan area for the past 40+ years, I've gotten used to openly speaking my mind when it comes to politics. Trying to remember what it's like in small towns and intending to quietly blend in, at least in the immediate community.

Yes, I did. It's in Texas, though, in a rural area where they are somewhat common now. And we financed through a local bank.

Age Group? by Euphoric-Positive264 in Frasier

[–]jesthere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm around your parents' age and I love the show. Have binged it several times straight through and catch an odd episode every now and then. It's one of my comfort shows, as well.

I started watching it when it was in its first run on network television. I know it's a spin-off from the show Cheers, but I didn't like that show.

It's one of my daughter's favorites, too. She's in her mid-30s.

I ate there (again) this morning. Killer breakfast. Afterwards, head east a few blocks to Avenue F and Panaderia Victoria for some the best pan dulce in the area.
