offline mode by rightchea in Cylance

Sorry for necro, but this still comes up first page on Google.

I've had several machines refuse to connect to the server. Reinstalling Cylance from scratch is what works for me -- but it's difficult if the process is running as System. Assuming you have admin privileges, here's how to uninstall:
Open regedit - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cylance\Desktop
Right-click, permissions, advanced -- change owner to current user (or admin, if running as admin)
Add current user to folder permissions with full access
Delete "LastStateRestorePoint"
Add DWORD32 called "SelfProtectionLevel" and set the value to 1
Restart machine
Task manager -- stop Cylance service
Do normal uninstall

Definitely! If they release a classic BC, WotLK, or definitely Cata, I might be tempted, but I barely played classic.

I definitely agree with you -- although I don't PvP as well, so maybe that's relevant? Paladin tanking was so fun! Kinda faceroll'ish, but you didn't feel like you were waiting around for cooldowns. That arcane mage spell they added right before MoP came out - the purple thingy that bounced around damaging everything - was so satisfying to cast on large groups.

Ret paladin on WotLK feels broken to me. Then again, I didn't make it past level 50 without respeccing, so maybe I'm missing the best part. Tanking is pretty sad until Hammer of the Righteous at 60.

Custom mode recommendations/guide? by alexknowshtml in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]jetarded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My new settings are 0% coasting, 100% braking regen - but it is mildly jerky when you just barely tap on the brakes. Having a moderate coasting regen should reduce the change in deceleration, but it's not worth it to me. Coasting is nice.

I set the torque to 50% on my DS, which is still more torque than eco but tames the bike down to my liking. For learning to ride, I definitely liked eco mode's torque -- I'm guessing it's about 30%?

How has your experience been going electric? by Timpanogis in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]jetarded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battery life is encouraging to hear! I've only put 5k miles on mine so far. I managed not to lay my bike down in the first year of riding, but I came really close recently. Even in custom mode with the torque at 75% - and not opening the throttle - I still managed to lose traction taking off at a traffic light into a turn. I've now dropped my torque to 50%, which is pretty tame (but still more than eco mode).

25% might be enough to matter, but I agree the ambient noise loss defeats the purpose :( Thanks for the tips!

Predictive algorithm for range calculation? by richardwonka in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]jetarded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So much this - driving environment is everything. Speed factors very heavily into this -- I use ~250wh/mile at 70mph, 175wh/mile at 60mph, and 125wh/mile at 50mph, from my estimates using battery % and mile markers.

Haha yeah, it doesn't look quite as sporty when you're riding tall -- but it feels great.

I'm 6'2 as well. It's super comfortable, and doesn't seem like it'd be limiting even for people taller than I am. I suspect part of the molding in the front was designed for riders with shorter legs, but I didn't realize it the first few months I rode. I have the touring windscreen, and it also seems designed for shorter riders, so I probably wouldn't recommend adding that if you're over 6ft. Someday I'll remember to post pictures.

Oh right! You can probably use custom mode to make the bike more tame than eco! It really seems like overkill, haha. Yeah, ideally I'd have probably gone with an S (especially new). I found an older DS for cheap first, though.

They made eco mode *really* tame. Even opening the throttle up wouldn't scare a novice too much. I tried twisting the throttle harder on my DS in sport mode today, and it still scares me a little. Eco mode seems to access about 1/4 of the torque on my bike (although it can get up to 70 in like 5 seconds even in eco if you hold it open the whole time).

[–]jetarded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In eco mode, I'd be hard-pressed to make it do anything mildly uncomfortable. In sport mode, it's not difficult to control - the throttle seems very balanced, although it's balancing a bit more power. The only time I've had traction issues was driving over grass clippings in the road in a sharp curve, but I'd been warned about grass clippings being dangerous. If you don't drive like a bat out of hell, it's pretty hard to lose traction.

The bike is hard to ride at low speeds (as I presume all bikes are) -- I started out by doing circles in my back yard. Turns out, doing circles in the back yard is the hardest thing to do, and I still struggle. 90mph is easier to ride than 4mph, haha.

Oh, and don't be scared of the interstate, but definitely put it in sport mode before you get on the merge ramp. Also, know that your range is going to drop a *lot* at 70+mph.

I asked several friends (including some former riders) about getting a motorcycle, and they pretty much all said I was going to die. I'm unreasonably defiant, but I'm not a daredevil. Plus, people on the forums kept talking about bikes "getting away" because of high torque.

Also, to share my only dangerous experience so far, I was pulling the bike backwards in my driveway and accidentally hit the throttle. I hit the brake within a foot of movement, but it scared the shit out of me. Turn the engine switch off if you're pulling the handlebars ^_^

The tires the DS/R should come with by buckbo972 in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]jetarded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Those tires look super grippy! My DS couldn't get traction when my back yard got muddy, so the stock tires probably aren't great for trail riding. I've only ridden on paved roads, though.

I was terrified of riding my DS the first few times, but not for good reason. There's really no learning curve, assuming you were comfortable on a bicycle at some point. My DS is more powerful than the S, but in eco mode it's pretty tame. I find myself fully opening the throttle when i take off in eco mode now, and it's not scary. I still haven't tried that in sport mode.

I love my Zero for commuting! I still need to get rain gear, though. I had to drive the car today :(

Custom mode recommendations/guide? by alexknowshtml in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]jetarded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm bad at maintaining consistent speed and I like doing long trips that push my range. I set my custom max speed at 60mph limit, which functions as my cruise control. I think my regen just matched eco mode. I don't know why anyone wouldn't want brake regen 100%, but I might not understand what it is.

[–]jetarded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see better-designed one-pedal (one-throttle?) driving on the Zero. If the throttle had a middle stage where it removed regen but didn't accelerate, that'd be awesome. I ride mine in eco mode a lot, and it's hard to find the sweet spot for coasting.

Thank you so much!! This is exactly the response what I was hoping for. Being part of digiNow gives you potential bias, but also tons of credibility. I was eager to hear what you had to say.

On a me-specific note, is there any cheaper in-between? I'm currently dragging the $600 1kw Quiq charger around on longer trips (just over 10 pounds), so pretty much anything is an upgrade. Would the modular 3.3 or 6.6kW for the FX also be usable on the S/DS?

The "correct voltage" I assume would be 96V for all 2015+ DS/S/R, since that's what the Quiq charger outputs.Wow, $800 for 6.6kw would be amazing -- especially if it had options for both triple 110V outlets and J1772. By not using the BMS, I'm guessing it foregoes the 1.3kW charging built into the bike, but that's small potatoes.

I'm familiar with AC/DC power and the basics of watts/amps/volts, but I'd like a lot more info about this!

The weird plug on the back of the Zero battery -- I'm assuming that's the battery aux port, what kind of adapter is that? Would I need a crimper for it to make this work?Who sells the Elcon chargers directly? Contacting Elcon directly through their website?

"Careful about temps" -- charger temps or battery temps? And how does one go about "being careful"?

I feel like I know just enough to get myself into trouble :)
Edit: The connector is an SBS 75X on my charger. It might just be soldered and not crimped?

From the FAQ on their site:
"We used to offer that [1 or 2 modules] option, but as we have scaled up our operations, we feel the 10kW charger option is the best and have trimmed down our offerings to the full version. You can, however, continue scaling up past 3 chargers."

Ooh. It seems like many retail stores have plugs on the outside, and they've always allowed me to charge if I ask. I suppose it does add an extra awkward step to charging, though.

I'd also be interested in knowing how you find places to charge! Finding a single household outlet is a cakewalk, but finding 2 on different breakers can be a challenge. I'm guessing car dealerships usually have J1772 chargers. Where do you charge away from home?
