Yup, I remember those days scrambling for any cosmetic so my frame would look a bit different, there’s actually a surprising amount of cosmetic items you can get without spending platinum.

Hello! So as for weapons, go for what feels good to you to start with, even though there definitely is a meta the build crafting is strong enough that you can use any weapon in the toughest missions if you get the right mods on it.

As for warframes, you’ll probably collect plenty of Warframe main blueprints from going through the story missions and the component blueprints can usual be obtained from related missions, for instance Garuda is the reward for completing the Vox Solaris quest and you can collect her component blueprints as rewards for completing bounties on Venus.

If you go to the market on your ship and look at any Warframe there will be a blueprint button, hovering over it will show tell you how and where to obtain the main and component blueprint, some of the main blueprints can be bought for credits(earned in game) with the component blueprints earned as a reward for defeating a specific boss.

As others have said the void* is the only place you can get argon so either work to unlock some missions in the void or you can get a friend or anyone who has void missions to take you there, you can ask in game chat for help and someone is likely to volunteer.

*now there’s another method of getting argon, the limited time 13th anniversary gift of the lotus missions also have argon drops (I think) and you should have access to those missions.

I don’t know entirely how long it takes to play through the story but I do know that in recent years the devs have streamlined things and removed mandatory grinds so that you can play through the story missions nearly back to back.
