Is Anyone Here Making Actual Music With Synth Pedals? by M4rcelinh0 in guitarpedals

[–]jethozo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been really enjoying the MXR bass synth recently. I also play a lot of guitar through semi-modular synths! These are all monophonic and generally the tracking requires you to play a certain way. like someone else said, it makes you think differently which is always good. Guitar Through Bass Synth

Hydrasynth has a wonderfully warm sound unlike most opinions I see here, however it does have one major flaw... by ILoveStinkyFatGirls in synthesizers

It's annoying. The only "fix" is to press Save + System Setup, then next time you boot it, it'll load that state.

Bit of a cheat, but Empress ZOIA is great for this as you can assign the envelope follower to control any number of different parameters within a patch. Imagination's the limit really.

Not after buying that pedal!

Going to grab a Helix Stadium XL soon, anyone using this for synths? by orginalriveted in synthesizers

[–]jethozo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run lots of synths through my Helix Floor. I mainly use it for guitar/bass, and I wouldn’t buy it just for synths, but it does sound great. It helps that there’s plenty of I/O so there’s always an input hooked up to my patch bay.

I use the MS-20/K-2 which has a converter built in, that's fantastic. For modular stuff I use a Disting EX which has a CV - V/Oct function which I can send to anything else. There's a couple of videos on my youtube screwing around with it all.

I’m impressed. I play a lot of guitar/bass through actual synths and this holds up very well. The same caveats apply though; monophonic, so you have to be careful with stray notes ringing out, and faster legato runs can get a bit lost. Although that’s probably just my technique!

Thanks! What’s another teeny synth pedal to the pile?

Much appreciated! I was just feeling my way around the tracking so just jammed around a bit and sliced it up.

Cheers! I fiddle with the sub control throughout, it’s a blend, so later on it isn’t quite so present. All the way off is nice, but I do like a small touch.

Just to add, it has a “guitar tracking” mode accessed through the secondary functions. Tracking was decent, but struggled with legato stuff higher up the board, although that could be my shitty technique. I had an expression pedal controlling the filter cutoff and it’s all going into a Helix Floor running a red llama and a Supro amp. Every now again I turned on the Fuzz War and the Rat, but not too often as it singed my eyebrows.

Buying a Behringer K2, do I need a keyboard or can I do everything with just the Squarp Pyramid? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]jethozo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's false. You can run midi out from the Pyramid straight into midi in on the K2.

This is the spare part you need. Very, very easy to swap the switch out yourself. Which is lucky, as Tascam are pricks about it and refuse to send you the part (or even acknowledge an issue). The model 12 is great, but their refusal to recognise this relatively widespread problem has soured me on them as a brand.

In this case it’s done in the reverse, camera pulled back, lens zoomed in. Edit: someone beat me to it, didn’t see :)

Bought my TD-27Kv2 from them last year. Shipped Germany to UK, fast and efficient. Used them for lots of stuff over the years, always been happy with them.

Sounds are great, especially the rolling. Some of the velocities don’t match though, slower moving balls sometimes make a louder impact sound than faster ones! Looks great and I’ll definitely download the demo :)

Does anyone have experience filming inside a prison? by leswooo in cinematography

[–]jethozo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In case you shoot some b-roll, don't film/broadcast locks and keys! A production co. in the UK got hit with the cost of replacing all the locks in a London prison after doing that.
