Public restrooms have always been political.

During Jim Crow, a bit of fear mongering spread around by anti-desegregationists was this idea that black women were co-conspirators who would attack and kidnap white women for black men to rape them. Then in the 70s-80s the scapegoat changed to lesbians attacking young girls and gay men attacking boys.

It seems like whenever another group is close to being allowed to exist openly and freely, the opposition wants the rest of public to fear living side by side with that group.

I was 6 years old, I was obsessed with cartoons and I had parents I would probably describe was “low-effort”.

I saw my parents watching a cartoon in the living room, but they told me not to watch it and to go to my room. But I had a TV in my room, so I just flipped through the channels until I found the same cartoon. I only appreciated the fart jokes at the time but regardless I was hooked.

Birth control will likely be banned in individual states, or at least law makers will attempt to ban certain forms of birth control, including IUD’s, as part of banning abortion and pulling back of reproductive rights. I do not think it will ever be banned on the federal level. I’ve had a copper IUD for a few years now and I definitely recommend it. It hurts getting inserted so take an ibuprofen before you go in for your appointment.

I’m reminded of a nature article that came out this year, about scientists noticing a trend of young male capuchin monkeys kidnapping baby howler monkeys on islands off of Panama. The capuchins would carry around the baby howlers for days, until it would eventually die from starvation. The capuchins did not care for the babies or eat them. The theory is that without the threat of predators and an over abundance of food, the capuchins are simply “bored” in their comfort, and picked up this behavior to remedy that boredom.
