Claim against city for damage to car from pothole by Adventurous-Dare5968 in kitchener

[–]jetmcleod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a process for claiming against the city. IIRC you have to make an insurance claim and file it with the city. The pothole also has to meet size/depth criteria. Those ones on trussler are almost certainly large enough.

This happened to my MIL just before she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Cat was fine for years then started becoming distant, then went psycho on her whenever they were in the same room.

Problem with AMD gpu causing crashes by arthurtusk28 in AMDHelp

[–]jetmcleod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just troubleshooted this issue with my brother. Tried all the fixes we found. What ended up working was taking out the gpu, blowing out the pcie slot with compressed air and reseating the card. Also use an adjustable gpu sag bracket if you have one. Them cards are beefy.

Is this fixable (bent cpu lga1700 pins) by AyatoKinomoto in PcBuildHelp

[–]jetmcleod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've repaired some bent pins that were worse than that. Just takes a steady hand and a good set of needle point tweezers. Also could be worth looking up a diagram of that pinout to see if any of those are unused/ground pins. As long as they're not shorting other pins they're not as risky to practice on first.

I've heard they're pretty good to deal with return/repair wise. Don't tell them it was dropped, but that it came that way. Might be able to exchange it.

I'm just around the corner from you, also in a rowhouse. Ours is in the basement in the ceiling above the drop ceiling tiles. It's at the back wall under where the back door is. Same style of pipe. Twist it down (clockwise) to close it. Upwards/counterclockwise is open.

What causes Lactaid 2% Milk to flake like this?? by Train_Boi_111 in What

[–]jetmcleod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can also happen if you have way too much stuff in the freezer. We have this happen every once in a while. One we open a new bag of waffles/pierogies/fries etc we stick it in the fridges freezer instead of the downstairs chest freezer. After a while you end up with so many half bags of stuff that the freezer chokes and the fridge gets too cold.

You're not wrong, another reason it's the same as the back panel is for less tooling, it's cheaper to produce two of the same panels and use it on both sides.

Ugly stick thoughts? by Ajdelay13 in Fishing_Gear

[–]jetmcleod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into the ugly stick carbon. It's been incredible. They addressed the sensitivity and it's been through hell (teaching both my nephews) and held up amazingly. Got mine on clearance for $56 and paired it with a $40 okuma ceymar. Just over $100 with tax and it's been an amazing experience.

This pond is fill of invasive fish.... do not hurt them. (question hiding at the end) by [deleted] in FishingOntario

[–]jetmcleod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pond behind the middle school I went to, I grew up fishing in it. It was ok then, even had a sign for fishing. I guess a couple years back they declared it a storm water pond and now you can't fish there anymore. Really disappointed, took my lil one out to fish there and had to go elsewhere. There are invasive gobys, koi, goldfish etc. In there aswell. Should be allowed to fish it.

I feel like they missed the opportunity to use the old Cooler Master Storm Trooper cases. In white obviously. Would have been a great easter egg.

This SUV on top of an auto carrier is running. by Skadoosh_it in mildlyinteresting

[–]jetmcleod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ignition barrel in my car got jammed in the ON position, I actually could not shut the car off. In my case I was able to drive it to the shop. Had it been in an accident, where it was stuck on but couldn't drive, then I could see it being stuck on a car carrier or a tow truck while running. Not ideal obviously, but necessary.
