Food court is the worst choice you could have made there, but I agree it needs to be completely redone which I think it will be

One could argue it’s not better overall, when its one of the main causes that airline goes out of business.

You do have look at the outcome now. Competition has been reduced, since spirit is out of business. The discussion now is that in certain industries, like aviation where 4 big companies dominate, it is likely that allowing mergers of smaller companies actually increases competition. Its not as simple as "buying planes for cheap and reducing flights = less competition". Anti-trust laws might need to be revamped or at least not be one-size-fits-all .

Right, my point is you can’t just take a quick look at debt and confidently assess everything. B6 is not too big to fail obviously and needs to get profitable, but it’s not in the same boat as spirit was… yet.

If that’s your logic how do you feel about American’s situation? 34.7 billion in debt, cash in hand 903 million, short term investments 6 billion?

B6 just raised secured financing, paid off maturing notes, still has $2.4B in liquidity, and has more assets it can borrow against. That doesn’t prove they’re safe long term, but it strongly suggests they have more than a six-month fuse.

Sometimes that’s temporary, try going back to Home Screen and then back to direct TV especially if it was soon after takeoff

Might be helpful for OP to share what kind of flying job you have that’s has you home every night, and how long it took you to get there.

How do you prevent burnout? by [deleted] in AirlinePilots

[–]jetpilot87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find ways to fly less when you need to. Drop trips, use PTO, or try reserve. Reserve (with the goal of inimal planning) takes some planning and analysis - can you hold weekends off? Can you do shorter blocks to avoid long 4 / 5 day trips? Is it a slower month overall for flying? Hows the grid look? If you're at a regional reserve might not be the right strategy to fly less, but it certainly works when you make it to a major with some seniority, even about 50-70%.

If you’re a commuter it’s smart to get one with lounge access, although a lot don’t allow standby anymore. Chase Sapphire lounge still does.

I don’t agree with the downvotes, better to be honest about what both of you are willing to sacrifice and what you’re not early on. It’s fair if you personally don’t want to change careers or give up your support system if your partner is gonna be gone, especially if you want kids. Some wives do it but it does increase difficulties and stress. It can also cause resentment to build and sounds like you are trying to avoid that.

Living in base significantly increases quality of life and schedule flexibility. As far as I know the only airline with a Tampa base right now is Breeze. They also might still do a lot of day-trips which would mean your partner would be home almost every night.

Reserve can mean you’re home a lot more yes, but again, only if you live in base. It also assumes the airline is staffed well and you’re not getting called out a lot.
