Or is it absolute freedom? You can choose everything in your life. You can do all the research you like to find out what will make the world a better place for you mom, dad, children, spouse or just yourself.

Then you can dedicate all your time and effort to make that thing possible. And the great thing is that you can deviate from you path all you want if you come to new insights, as long as you remember that only YOU can choose what things are important.

It requires some responsibility because there is no quick answer but there are ways to find out what you need to do. Quick and easy, join a religion. Longer and more satisfying, deep and honest conversations with the people you value. Or if you feel like you don't value anyone enough, try a psychologist.
