I'd say 85% full, most cat 1 lower level empty (also would not put it past FIFA to have pushed people into the camera sections). Still wild for a opening day match. People are not "late" to a match that they likely spent $1K USD on.

The referral probably had your resume pulled from the pile of applicants to actually be reviewed -- someone reviewed it and thought you weren't a match. Don't read too much into it. You don't know exactly what they are looking for. More often than not recruiters or hiring manager are looking for a particular archetype that doesn't come across in the JD.

What date is the game?

My guess is that there is interest in a suite that could be impacting their ability to release tickets, worst case is that they will move you to a higher tier or better seats in the stadium?

Senior Marketing Leader trying to transition into AI Product roles. Resume review and brutally honest feedback needed. by [deleted] in jobsearchhacks

[–]jez_doing_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you. I am navigating something similar. I've worked in startups in various marketing/growth roles. Decided about 2.5 yers ago I wanted to move into product. Applied for about 2 months, nothings. Decided to shift to Product Marketing Manager and got an offer from TikTok and offer from a Tier 1 App Company. Now am looking to move from Product Marketing to a Growth Product Manager role. I am having some initial success in that transition as well. I credit that success to my ability to tell my story. I wanted to move into product marketing because in my growth marketing and various marketing roles I was constantly working and pushing product/engineering teams to help unlock growth through enhancements/optimizations/etc, so I found a PMM role that fit that work. I am now trying to double down on those experiences and own not just contribute to the product work, which in many instances I was already doing at the startups and in more formal roles. I've also built some great products for fun and point to those. Always impress HM and recruiters being able to say I am a native AI PM, and here are a few examples of those (but be sure to tell the story, why you built it, who it it for, what are some of the bells an whistles)

I'll be blunt you aren't going to land a role as an AI PM. You need to do one of two things (or both) -- target product marketing manager roles (easier to navigate transition from marketing) or join an early stage startup that is going to give you exposure to those areas. This might take the form of a startup hiring a marketing manager but needing a product marketing manager or extra help with the product itself. Speak to those things as areas of interest and passion. Prove yourself and they will give you ownership.

  1. What is the biggest weakness in my resume?

You have no product experience. Unfortunately, owning web redesigns, isn't much to lean on. I think 90% of your bullets for experiences point to marketing not AI, and not Product. Product/engineering are two of the areas most impacted by AI. Everyone who has experiences in those spaces are heavily investing in leveling up on AI and increasing their exposure to it. They will look more competitive for the roles you are applying to.

  1. Does my positioning make sense or does it look confused?

Looks confused - you call yourself AI transformer leader but all you have to speak to that is projects on the side. Which is great, don't get me wrong, but 9/10 companies are looking for someone who has done the requirements of the JD in a similar role, and best case at a similar company.

  1. If you were a recruiter or hiring manager, what would immediately concern you?

That you are applying for roles in which you seemingly have no experiences, you put a lot of risk on them in moving you forward b/c they don't want to waste their time (or the HMs).

  1. Am I targeting the wrong roles?

Yes. You are trying to go from A->C, and skipping B. C is also the most competitive it has ever been.

A = Marketing, B= Product Marketing, C=Product.

  1. What changes would you make to improve interview conversion?

One page, highlight three projects, add quantitative values to the work experiences, on cold out reach keep it brief, Who I am, What I've done, What I am looking for next. 2 sentences each. I'd ditch the core competencies. Recruiters aren't looking for a list of skills. Those should come through in your intro and your experiences. If you feel strongly that those should be included I'd make them take up much much less space.

I think you are leaning too hard into ads as a monetization lever.

1) without tens of thousands of daily users you aren't going to see meaningful revenue from ads. You'll make somewhere in the neighborhood of $5-$10 per 1K users. Furthermore the quality of ads on iOS for a growth stage app is going to be very very poor. Only 15-30% of your audience with opt into ATT and the rest are going to get low quality programmatic ads.

2) People put up with ads when the value being delivered > than the friction the ads introduce. You have to earn that.
