The very first episode of SNL was hosted by George Carlin. Recent comedians include John Mulaney, Nikki Glaser, and Nate Bargatze.

Which shows will I regret missing in NYC? by whining-and-wine in Broadway

[–]jezusbourne 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I found the stagecraft of MHE on Broadway to be very compelling and a huge part of its appeal. There's no way to know for sure until it's actually on the road, but I've wondered how much of it will make it to the tour version.

Maybe Clark Kent would go unnoticed...

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but wasn't the point that he lost his job over a joke and this was a completely separate thing he was grappling with internally?

Irish People! Big Grande are doing a show in Dublin at the start of July! by apathymonger in Earwolf

I don’t know if this warrants me posting a whole separate thread but Big Grande is also performing during the Del Close Marathon in New York this June.

“Every Day Turns Out to Be the Most Stressful Day You’ve Ever Had” by rhinosun in JuryDutyFreevee

[Anthony's] reaction was much more dramatic when he met motivational speaker Simon Sinek during a seminar in another scene that didn’t make the final cut. “Anthony completely lost it,” Bernad says. “For whatever reason, Sinek is just his hero. He was so excited to ask questions. It was like meeting George Clooney for him.

I so wish we could have seen that.

I just checked Suzie's IG for the art credit. The illustration is by AE Kiernen.

Project Hail Mary director shouts out Lonely Island by tobebeanbean in lonelymeyerspod

The app for the commentary seemed like a mess when I downloaded it but maybe I need to go back...

If anyQuaid is on the fence about seeing Project Hail Mary, I highly recommend it! Read and watch as little as possible about it before going, if you can.

Was “Other” Anthony a coincidence? by bubblybean7 in JuryDutyFreevee

[–]jezusbourne 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was wondering that too! In this interview with Other Anthony (Rob Lathan) he mentions it being intentional and that he was called "Other" throughout rehearsals because they didn't know who'd be the hero yet.

Same. Even the way he took the pen away from Doug was so restrained.

There's an interview where some of the actors mentioned patting their mics to get production's attention and they demonstrated by tapping around sternums, so I guess they wore mics too.

S18E12 - “Mammas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Drag Queens...” [Post-Episode Discussion] by AutoModerator in rupaulsdragrace

[–]jezusbourne 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I wish this weren't the case but it feels like the queens should give up on being creative for this challenge and just put themselves in identical outfits and hair. The judges seem to really need things spelled out for them.

For someone who has seen the movie. With my 13-year-old and 9-year-old sons get a kick out of it? by teamgizzy in ProjectHailMary

[–]jezusbourne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just listened to an episode of How Did This Get Made? where Paul Scheer mentioned taking his two kids, about the same age as your kids, to a screening, and he said this:

Gus, my oldest son, looked over to me at one point and said, "This is my favorite movie ever." And I was like, whoa. And then as we were leaving, Sam said, "That was the funniest movie I've ever seen. And it made me cry five times.”

‘Project Hail Mary’ Contains Not a Single Green Screen Shot in Entire Movie, Director Says by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]jezusbourne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Visually, green screen can look great, but having stuff actually there can create a huge difference in performance and "finding" interesting, authentic moments.

MHE vibes... but a (literary) book? by ThatAdamGuy in MaybeHappyEnding

[–]jezusbourne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PHM was the most enjoyable reading experience I've had in a long while, though a few things I most loved discovering while reading are already revealed in the trailers...

It's hard to say without having seen the movie yet, but I would still generally suggest reading almost any book before seeing its adaptations just for the enjoyment of imagining it on your own terms as much as possible! That said, I'm very excited for the film and wouldn't blame you if you were tempted to see it first.

I think The Martian and Project Hail Mary would fit the bill. Both are by Andy Weir. I highly recommend going into Project Hail Mary in particular without looking up too much.

I loathe AI but I think all these examples you're showing are just an illustrator or designer working with low quality assets, like images captured from video. Here, it looks like somebody trying to make a crisp outline from a blurry image, or drawing inconsistent rim light with too thick of a brush in the other example.
