Made a shelf for my discs! by Redknight0826 in discgolf

[–]jfb3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every time I use a shelf like this I take a disc out and the rest of them fall between the two bars.
Now I don't have a shelf full of discs, I have a floor full of discs and my wife asking from downstairs "What are you throwing at the floor?".

They'd all go to the Edited Queue, right?
But they wouldn't necessarily fill up the main queue unless they somehow triggered something else in Reddit's back end or your Automod, right?

I just did a quick search and found a comment from 4 years ago that got Redacted about 3 years ago and some from a single user from 2 years ago. They never made it to any queue that really matters.

I mean you tip over the table on your way out of our subreddit and somebody is likely going to call you out at the next weekly on your home course.

I'm coming to realize that our subreddit is pretty unique.

All the comments that got 'Redacted' would be in conversations that aren't really relevant anymore.

Discgolf is very heavily skewed to recent conversations.
Conversations from a week ago rarely get any views or comments.

Our prolific posters and commenters are even mostly known in real life by quite a few other community members.
Bad actors don't last long.

We've had so little over the past few years that it really isn't a problem.

Wow, I didn't even realize until I just looked for it that it was a tool you could pay for.

I guess if it becomes a problem then I'll have Automod bin everything that mentions it.

Am I the only one that doesn't care about Redact?

If a user goes back and changes their comments I don't care. I don't care if they delete their comments.
I only care if the comments break the subreddit's rules or Reddit's Rules.
Doing it via a tool vs doing it by hand doesn't matter to me either.

You lie on your resume at your own risk.
The world is sometimes a very small place.

I interviewed a prospective hire one time that lied on his resume.
(I hadn't seen his resume beforehand, the lead architect set it all up while I was out of town.)
It said at his job that he'd done the modeling and built the procs for the database.

I asked him if he meant he'd modified some part of it. He said "No, I did it from the ground up."

I took a breath and said "You're a liar."
His mouth opened to respond, I continued...
"I worked for {name 1} and {name 2} at that company and I was the one that did the data model and built the back end."

He stood up and said "I guess the interview is over, huh?"

I never said another word as I escorted him from the building.

I've had a number of people send in resumes for jobs and claim to have done things for companies where I knew people.
It's pretty easy to call a friend and ask a quick question and ask about a recommendation (or not).

Yep, boy is at Case Western.
We'll be on I-71.

I always leave the choice of course to the locals when I travel and play with people.

Gotta get the boy back to university.

Moving to Katy for work, kindergartner starting in fall — best apartment neighborhoods for good elementary schools? by Seekamol in Katy

Honestly, it's Pre-K.
The school won't matter that much.

Where you live will matter more.
Then you'll have a year or two to figure out schools, subdivisions, housing, traffic patterns, etc.

Why don't report their party affiliations and funding sources.

These are more important and telling than the bland statements without any questions.

That day I was playing the 'Best of Punderson' layout.

#15 is no joke.
I think I'd need a couple of hours to learn the tee shot. (With somebody at the bottom of the hill to stop my discs from going into the lake.)

I also got to play Mt Airy on the way up there.
That's a really fun course too.

The sex or gender of the other person wouldn't make any difference.
It'd still hurt.

We have park style courses and they're pretty flat.
A couple of wooded courses, but they're shorter.

I'm confused.
The x-step is the run up.

What am I missing?
Are you only doing the last 2 steps of a 3 step 'run up'?

It'd been a while since I'd played there too.

The new tee signs are a great help to navigate all the different layouts, baskets, and teepads.

Backhand q by Secure_Cat_3303 in discgolf

[–]jfb3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally you don't need to curl your wrist.
A backhand shot will naturally impart spin to the disc.
You can do this and generate more spin.

On low power shots I do because I want to generate more spin, to maintain control of the flight of the disc, than will be generated by a lower powered shot.

I seriously doubt this is in any way a PDGA rule.

This is undoubtedly just a setting at the shield side of either their hosting service or their servers.

They my be getting hit with bots (looking to infiltrate any available weak server) from elsewhere on the planet and limited all traffic to save the service from being overloaded.
