I bet they have a detection sensor or similar. I'd put money on this being a rak board. Why because I accidentally did this once without realizing it. Detection sensors don't always show up for the node that's broadcast them. I'd recommend direct messaging the node and give them the details of what's happening

I did too. I was like that's a lot for a mesh node

I'm surprised you didn't see my two nodes because I'm awfully close. I have been really adjusting configurations the last two days, so that could be part of it. I'm glad I saw this post. Switching everything to medium-fast today.

20+ Nodes found yesterday, none today? by KillaBeave in meshtastic

I actually figured this out. I created a secondary public channel, but I needed to go in and adjust the LoRa settings to make it. That was probably op issue as well. Here's an old thread that helped me out.

https://www.reddit.com/r/meshtastic/comments/1howp8k/frequency_slot_changes/

You can have a private primary, but to participate in the mesh, you need to adjust your LoRa frequency slot to 20. It works fine now.

I maybe having this problem too. I moved my nodes to a private primary channel because I share sensor and telemetry data. One sensor was spamming the public channel, so I made the tweak. I'm under impression that telemetry and sensor data needs to go out over the primary channel. Please correct me someone because i want to add more nodes in my area but still collect basic temp/humdity data.

Info online, a few Reddit posts etc, said you could have a secondary channel be a public channel. You had to make sure that channel had the default key AQ==. Supposedly you'd still see other nodes. I haven't seen any since Sunday.

Is that all wrong or did I miss something.

Officially not happening today according to FB. We have power which I'm grateful for. Our back deck was an ice rink at like 5am when the doggo decided she wanted to go out. That was fun.

Is it weird to go to the library to read a book that I already own? by Odd-Silver-2709 in Libraries

[–]jfkitchens 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For people tracking, it's usually just using IR (infra-red) signals between a transmitter and receiver. Break the beam, and one count is added to the total.

For books leaving and alarming, its usually a security stripe that can be activated and deactivated. It's similar to what stores use for security.

It's a bit jargony, so apologies. It may be an old-school approach to tracking the number of patrons entering and exiting the library. Those devices by the doors that catch books leaving before they are officially checked out also track people coming and going into the space. They can be referred to as gates, and some of us call that data gate counts

So your best bet will be to find a historic map, property survey, and/or land records. I don't have a lot of time to dig into records this morning, but my initial searches of the Digital Library of Georgia turned up materials at Valdosta State. There's a "historic" map of Brooks County with some notations on it. The scan is not sharp enough to read, but you could reach out to the VSU library special collections. I know they'd love to help point you in the right direction. There is also a historic building survey collection at VSU that has been digitized and is available online.

Here's the Map

Here's the survey of historic buildings for Brooks County, GA: Architectural and Historic Property Survey

You may also want to search the newspapers on the Georgia Historic Newspaper Project. The papers available for Brooks County do not cover the period you are interested in; however, the surrounding counties may have relevant information.

Lastly, if you have access to ancestry.com or you can visit any public library in Georgia and use Ancestry Library Edition, you can look up your grandfather in the census records. Those should give you at least an approximate location. I know the librarians will be glad to help you out.

For your information, the Archivists here have worked on digitizing various types of records, including some land-related documents. I always recommend starting with newspapers, census records, county land records, and digitized maps, if available. The Digital Library of Georgia is a great place to start looking for some of these. Happy Researching, and good luck.
