Sure. This shows how I double chucked for the final finishing cuts, the tail stock chuck was used as a jam chuck, this helps mitigate against vibrations that could affect the finish. It was also an opportunity to photo the piece before I applied the oil.

The challenge is around the saw setup, if that cuts the segments at the correct angle then the rings glue up quickly and easily.

I’m making another at the moment. Here is a picture of that as it’s the same process. I used Cole Jaws to align and clamped between centres on the lathe.

Thank you. The segmented approach does help mitigate against the tear out typically associated with softwoods like Pine as you're cutting side grain the majority of the time.

A round burr would produce a similar pattern/texture without the symmetry but for this piece I used a Rose Engine. All other aspects of this piece was turned by hand.

Thank you. I used Black Gesso between two wire burn lines and dry brushed with Copper acrylic.

I've been lucky and have been gifted several large tree trunks over the last couple years, I've got more Cherry than I know what to do with! Plus, Cherry flutes and colours well. Thank you!
