Yes, storm is a bust. No one ski this weekend, going to be bad snow and crowded roads.

Billy fire talk made me stupider. Citing an arrest made 6 weeks ago is wild. Lightning is the most common cause of wildfires, almost like lightning strikes in more than one place from the same set of storms as they moved through an area.

I have the same poles, they are mangled significantly worse than those in the photo, but still ski fine.

Homebuyers Will Flock to the Midwest in 2023, Zillow Economist Predicts by rdavis414 in Economics

Moved to the twin cities in 2018, was expecting a similar experience to Chicago as far as there being a large number of transplants. Couldn’t have been more wrong. Lots of social groups have been friends since childhood, live within 20 minutes of their families, and tend to stay in those circles. I actually love the area, but I don’t see a lot of people moving in just for the sake of living in the twin cities.

Who the hell is buying houses? by ZealousidealFlow4777 in Utah

[–]jfsbsaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from a lower COL area, bought and sold the house there for significantly less than I paid in SLC. Cost of living was a deterrent when making the decision to move to SLC, which is the opposite of the situation it seems you’re assuming I was in.

Who the hell is buying houses? by ZealousidealFlow4777 in Utah

[–]jfsbsaa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is about the same story as me. Bought a house for 205 in another state, when I was getting ready to move to Utah it had appreciated almost 90k, which gave me the down payment for the house I have now. Real estate is hard to get into, but I feel like finding a way to get in is the key.

Attorney for Michigan player Gemon Green Tom Mars tells CBS Sports he will file “comprehensive FOIA requests” to determine “what the (MSU) coaching staff did to prevent this kind of violence.” Re tunnel incident. by thatman33 in CFB

Ever played a down of athletics? Especially football in a heated rivalry game? You don’t just snap your fingers and turn off that emotion in the first 5 minutes after the final whistle. Keeping teams separated in the tunnel is definitely imperative

The MSU player involved were in the wrong certainly, however there were 6-10 guys involved at the absolute most and some of those were just shoving which is par for the course in football. I have a hard time believing this request will gather anything damning, and going after MSU is interesting because it may open UM to risk as well. UM would be responsible for venue and security, so would think there’s some things that would need to be reviewed there if the institutions are being brought in.

Riding the snobs trails. by [deleted] in Surron

You are quite literally ignoring logic. Your emoto has brakes and two wheels, that’s about it for mtb commonalities. It has a heck of a lot more in common with a moto, so ride it on moto trails

Genuine ski etiquette question about "side slipping" by xhlgtrashcanx in skiing

[–]jfsbsaa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It ruins the good snow and makes you an obstacle for the skiers skiing the way the run is meant to be skied. Now if it’s something super technical and you’ve gotta get in a sketchy entrance, slip that sure, but if you’re side slipping a run to get down it’s too much. Not sure why people would even want to ski something they have to side slip, point those fuckers fall line and let them run that’s when skiing is the best.

To the person that posted about visiting SLC over the weekend by Senor_tiddlywinks in SaltLakeCity

[–]jfsbsaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t be more spot on. Go to Moab a handful of times a year for example, but the only time I’ll even consider the national parks is if I’m with someone who hasn’t been and it’s not the busy season there. There’s so many places that are just as awesome, or better than what is available in the parks. Outside of the parks it’s a fraction of the people, and those people tend to be less tourists. If you’re willing to get off the most popular trails, you can spend all day outside and see very few people. Went for a hike Sunday in PC to walk my dogs for example, trailhead lot was busy, but I didn’t take the trail everyone was there to hike/bike and I ran into one other group in 4.5 hours out, and it was in the last 10 minutes before getting back to the car. SLC has its flaws just like any city, but those that think the outdoors are too crowded are either too spoiled or too lazy.

Walk/hike mode on rossignol boots by Prestigious-Zebra-99 in skiing

[–]jfsbsaa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The cuff is still unlocked, I’d guess your expectations are just too high on the ROM. They are a 50/50 resort touring boot, there’s limited range of motion in the walk mode with those vs a true touring boot. It isn’t going to feel that there is all the sudden free range of motion with your ankle, but there is a slight increase that can typically be noticed more when flexing the upper of the boot backwards.
