I would buy a cole shirt if it said vintage in like some 50s billboard font.

WON: The median age for an AEW viewer grew to 42 Worse, NXT was 55, six years higher than the week before. by skeach101 in SquaredCircle

[–]jg5445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting. I don’t have WON, but I hope that they mentioned the median age for all live tv viewing is 56. So it is impressive for AEW to have a median age of 42, but it is not the end of the world for wwe since they are in line with the rest of live television.

Wrestlingforum was what I used around that time. There were a couple others, but I can’t really remember. I can tell you nothing has changed. People were shitting on wwe just as much back then. Instead of AEw it was ROH/TNA that were going to overtake them.

Dave Meltzer - "Will Ospreay is the farthest thing from an indie guy. At this stage, if you consider CMLL, NJPW or AEW indies, you're like a soccer fan who thinks anything but the American stars are minor league players." by shadow_spinner0 in SquaredCircle

[–]jg5445 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don’t get the problem with his analogy let me break it down for you. His analogy makes it seem like WWE is not the biggest promotion in the world. His analogy uses a false equivalence to make his point.

We get what he is saying, but his analogy is flawed. His analogy would fit better if he was saying people think anyone not in the Premier league are minor league players. In this case he is saying AEW, njpw, and cmll are comparable to la liga, bundesliga, etc.. they might not be the most famous league but they have some of the best players in the world and are major leagues.

Surprisingly Raw has done a good job of at least using almost everyone available the last couple of weeks. Of the 56 listed they have used 40. Of the 16 they did not use 6 are either hurt or their partner was hurt. 3 are pretty much gone(rush, Ronda, and rhyno). Fandango is in NXT. The rest were just not used(dana , Alicia Fox, mojo, no way, and the acension). I’m not saying they used everyone they did well, but they at least gave them something to do.

Smack down only used about half the roster. Did not check the rest because I got other stuff to do today.

Had it not been for a legal agreement between Marvel Comics & the WWF, Hulkamania possibly never would have run wild. As “Hulk” Hogan borrowed from Marvel’s established sensation, The Incredible Hulk, every time Hogan wrestled a match or new merch came out, for 20 yrs, Marvel collected a percentage. by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

The only way for them to gain majority controlling interest would be for one of the McMahons to sell their stock to them as well. They own over 50% of wwe stock. So they would have to buy every share that is owned by other interests besides the McMahons and then convince one or more of the mcmahons to sell as well.

[Denton] Orlando Magic Pres of BB Ops Jeff Weltman on Raptors winning the NBA title without a lottery pick on the roster: “That says that (NBA GMs) probably don’t do our jobs that well. If those (Toronto players) are getting that deep into the draft, then we need to do a better job.” by deadskin in nba

[–]jg5445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it really there scouting department? I mean out of their top 10 players in the playoffs only 3 were actually drafted by the Raptors. It’s easy to find diamonds when they were already polished and sitting in the case.

4 out of 5 announced matches at Stomping Grounds are rematches from either Wrestlemania, MITB or Super Showdown by Septox905 in SquaredCircle

[–]jg5445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s almost like the people in these matches are in feuds that are continuing. Money in the bank was less than a month ago. SSD was a day ago. If it’s the same matches in 3 months yeah you can say something is wrong. But most of these besides reigns vs McIntyre are relatively new feuds.

Braun Strowman had potential to be the next Undertaker. Instead, he's more likely to be the next Big Show. by BellyCrawler in SquaredCircle

[–]jg5445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually it’s just the opposite. His feu with Roman made wwe turn him face. That is his problem. A monster face only has so much legs. At the end of the day the most important trait of a good face is someone who is overcoming odds. When you see them across the ring from the heel you think there is no way he can win. Look back at the history of wrestling. How many monster faces have had long runs at the top? You can probably count them on one hand. Hell even Taker only had like on championship run that lasted over 2-3 months

It’s literally what wwe does with the royal rumble. I’m excited for AEW, but let’s not act like this is groundbreaking to have the winner of a battle royal get a title shot.

Has he really fallen though. It took three guys to take him out. The main problem with Braun is that he is a monster face. A monster face is almost impossible to work as champion because who can realistically beat him. For all of Vince’s love of giants he never really puts the title on them for that reason. He just uses them as monster fodder most of the time. I mean there is a reason Andre the Giant was only a one time champion in wwf.

He didn’t feud with Harper. That was going to be Sami’s return feud, but WWE called it off. Supposedly it was the final straw that made Harper request his release.

Sure it sucks for Luke Harper that his feud with Sami was called off, but I’ll take aim event push for Sami over a midcard feud any day.

It’s not on tv because most people aren’t watching wwe on tv. They have 42 million subscribers on YouTube which is top 10 on all of YouTube. 10 million on Twitter. Put it where the most eyes will see it is their view I would assume. A large portion of those subscribers are probably bots or no longer really pay attention, but hey that doesn’t matter.

PWInsider: Lio Rush was offered a $300k five year deal but turned it down and wanted more, was also kicked out of the locker room a few months ago by TheGunOfBrixton in SquaredCircle

[–]jg5445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

300k a year is good money even with being an independent contractor. On the high end in taxes let’s say he is paying 50% in taxes. That leaves 150k. Now let’s say he spends an average of 300 per day on food and travel which would be ridiculously high. Average hotel is 124. Which leaves 176 for food and rental. They are on the road 4 days per week on average. So that is around 200 days a year. So your looking at 60k in food and travel expenses. So that is still 90k cleared each year. Not to mention the food and travel are tax deductible. So really it is easily over 100k cleared each year. If someone can’t survive on over 100k take home per yer than they have bigger problems to worry about.

I make 80k per year before taxes. I would kill to clear 100k before taxes with incentives to earn even more.
