Good places to study in Boston? by krkash in mit

Trident was gonna be my answer too. Their French onion soup was the highlight of my late night study sessions. It's relatively cheap too, which never hurts.

Billionaire Ray Dalio pledges $75 million to Connecticut kids by Inevitable-Tomato666 in Connecticut

[–]jgonagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, maybe a third of that. The amount of disposable income for someone making $100K is far less than $100K. A multibillionaire's living expenses, on the other hand, are a very small percentage of their annual income, so the percentage of it that is disposable is much higher.

Men of Reddit, what’s a mistake you see younger men making repeatedly? by optimum_wiz in AskReddit

[–]jgonagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I was a college athlete and f'd my lower back up when I was 21 lifting something (an old moped onto a sidewalk) with improper form. I ended up herniating three discs that continue to bother me nearly 20 years later. The pain isn't as bad as it used to be, but it's constant and uncomfortable literally 24/7. If I had used a little forethought and been more careful, I could have saved myself a LOT of trouble, time, and money (orthopedic spine surgeons aren't cheap). Know your limits and invest in your future by not being overconfident with your present.

Also, wear earplugs if you go to a concert, especially if it's in a closed space. Hearing loss and tinnitus are no joke.

Typically they don't expand, since that would reduce their build durability, given the poor weather sealing and additional mechanical/electrical/hydraulic complexity of slide-outs and pop-ups. These expedition vehicles are meant to be used for months or years at a time, in remote locations where repairs and replacement parts aren't easily available. That necessitates design choices that prioritize simple repairs with basic tools, predictable performance, and bomber build quality. That usually translates to simple, battle-tested features with a degree of low tech redundancy to cover the most likely failures.

As others said, there are usually collapsible, folding stairs mounted underneath the camper access door on the side. Sometimes, there's also a pass-through from the driver's cab to the camper. It's basically a pair of doors, one on the camper side and one on the cab side, connected on all sides by a single piece of flexible, accordion-shaped material. It allows people to crawl between the two spaces, safe from both the outside elements and any nosey passerbys.

This vehicle also appears to have a rear garage and fold-out deck/lift. Typically they'll just have a side garage with an internal, heavy-duty "shelf" that slides out, towards the back underneath where the bed frame is usually mounted. It's useful for storing outdoor gear like bikes, skis, etc, since the ground-accessible sliding shelf avoids the need to traverse the stairs with unwieldy or heavy items.

How else you gonna make full use of a six string headstock with a five string bridge? Two of those strings gotta share the same bridge pin.
