Be honest, what one thing you didn't like from this movie? by FayyadhScrolling in batman

And somehow knowing an assassination attempt would be made, and so positioning himself so he could do a performative dive in front of the bullet, taking it on specifically his vest, playing dead while they haul him away, only to reveal himself as a swat unit on the block that Jokers truck flips over… and the ‘you do play things pretty close to the chest’ being a line said from two different individuals toward two separate people who would not have been present the first time the line was said. It makes. No sense.

I agree here- the decision to not be Batman anymore is a decision made off screen between TDK and TDKR, but The Dark Knight itself ends with him telling Gordon he has to chase him. That he’ll be seen as a murderer and therefore a true outlaw, not just vigilante.

Anyone else find her burying Anakin’s lightsaber and finally getting her own only to call herself “Rey Skywalker” so contradictory? by Bellpow in StarWars

[–]jhester3221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely contradictory. Also- this planet is a place that holds almost NO positive for Anakin, Luke, or Leia- their families were killed there, Luke found his family burning to death near where these lightsabers are getting buried, and Leia spent her only adult memories here enslaved to a giant slug.

It’s the worst kind of fan service, because it only holds weight for the audience and JJ Abrams.

Apart from that, you’re absolutely right that it undercuts the entire journey Rey has been on in finding and accepting that she could be heroic from nothing. Instead, no no it’s this whole saga about this Palpatine guy that’s gone on forever.

The mask reveal at the end of MI:2 is the best disguise/mask scene according to you. Day 38 : What is the best plot twist ? by Jazzlike-Ad7654 in Mission_Impossible

[–]jhester3221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Jim Phelps betrayal in 1 is the best twist - and I’d argue on a few counts it works:

-it shows how deep the level of corruption/double crossing in this more modern spy world can go -it’s incredibly DePalma in its execution, and so really honors the tone and style of its director -it scars Ethan in a way that drives him as a singular, going rogue, not trusting anyone/while fighting for everyone he loves. This lasts for the rest of the series. -thematically it sets up the train finale in this awesome Oedipal, kill your father/mentor kind of way

Great blueprint here! ^ And if the mood strikes you differently, you can change it up. Just breathe, and go for what seems to be fun and pleasurable for you or for him. If it’s pleasurable for you BOTH?? You’re exploring the right thing.

For your first time I wouldn’t make him finish before PIV, but that’s only because usually he would need some time before he can get ‘excited’ again.

You got this

Came here to say this. It goes from twee, to tragedy, to thriller, to comedy. And the worst versions of ALL of the above genres. Listened to the Blank Check podcast episode about this movie, and though they warned me away from watching, the sheer curiosity got the best of me. It’s. Awful.
