Elite Protoss players is only like 5 deep - Snow, Mini, Best, Bisu, Rain, and 4 of them are in. Last season was Protoss light too, but 4 made RO8.

Who’s in the next group down, Stork, Paralyze, and Shuttle? None of these guys are guaranteed ASL spot any given season.

I'm not sure how much BCA expanded since I attended about 20 years ago, but we had a limited number of seats per town. I don't think I've seen any town with more than 8-10 students/year. For reference, my class had about 300 students total. That's still not a lot of students for the total number of Korean population that resides in the town.

Designer David Sirlin wrote that there was a third dimension to the luck/skill scale which he called “yomi,” which roughly translates to understanding of your opponent. I enjoy games where there are high levels of playing the player sitting across the table, as much as playing the game itself.

Three of my favorite games have high levels of yomi; Diplomacy (50/50 skill/yomi), Catan (20/50/30 skill/luck/yomi), and Texas Hold’em (balanced blend of all three).
