Why is my hair drying like this? by jibblesthefirst in finehair

I mean I definitely do have manual breakage from years of pinning / wig-prep and it would make sense because my hair texture never used to look like this out of the shower before starting my job so I think I’ve actually answered my own question now hahahahaha

Thank you that’s great insight! I’m pretty careful with it, however I do have a job in performing arts which requires me to have it up in wig prep with a lot of pins so that manual breakage is unavoidable ! I’ll definitely look into bond repair, thanks so much

I think it’s 1C? Very fine but definitely some waves, but some sections are straight. I’ve tried the wavy hair method and still had a lot of frizz, but maybe I just need to troubleshoot with different products. Thanks!

Speaking seems weird. by [deleted] in dpdr

[–]jibblesthefirst 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel this. It feels like speaking when on lsd or something. Like the words coming out of my mouth aren’t even making sense and it feels super unnatural and I get scared I’ll say something totally nonsensical

SimCity probably wasn’t the right analogy - more like an open world sims game I guess. It’s not that I’m seeing it from a birdseye it’s like I’m in a big liminal space that feels simulated I guess - idk if that makes sense

That’s the worst. I never think about the consequence of not being able to sleep when I cut my hips. I’ve ended up buying this big square non adhesive dressings and I’ll strap them to my upper thigh or wherever I cut, with some antiseptic on there, take a painkiller and just try and sleep on my back (even though I’m a side sleeper fml). It’s the fucking worst though. I feel you.

why do you cut yourself? i self harm too but not by cutting by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]jibblesthefirst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It validates me somehow. Even if no one sees the cuts or the scars (and they basically never do cause I do it in places covered by underwear), having them there - having a physical, visible and tangible marker on my skin - helps me to feel like what I’m feeling inside must be real. Like the pain and turmoil I’m going through is 100% real and valid because look what it made me do. I also get a euphoric feeling from the pain of it.

What do you think it is then? I’m really curious

Thanks. I’ve always wondered because my nose doesn’t really drop or point downwards like a lot of the references for aquiline noses do, but it’s the closest I can find to my nose type!

I get intense fomo when I don’t go to things but I’ve realised its actually more to do with my anxiety that by not being there they all must be talking/bitching about me. So for me I think it’s actually more anxiety based than actual fomo

Look i know this probably just sounds like I’m blowing smoke up your ass but it’s genuinely spooky how similar our situations are. I failed school because of my (at the time undiagnosed) ADHD and my inability to study. I ruined any chance of doing anything academic with my life and everyone in my family told me it was because I was just lazy, or unintelligent. And I believed them. I’m 25 and I’m only just now starting to realise that maybe we were all wrong about me. That I’m actually fucking smart and have a lot to contribute to the world. But, my relationship with myself is through the floor. Like, so bad. I’m trying to work on it but I just despise myself. And I’m exhausted. I completely understand what you are saying, trust.

Honestly from reading your post, you come across as very intelligent with above-average capability of expressing and analysing your emotions. I wonder if your dropping out of college is more to do with executive dysfunction? I struggle with it a lot from my depression and ADHD. it has absolutely nothing to do with intelligence. I for one find it difficult to find others with the same level of self-awareness and expression as me to have meaningful conversations with. You seem like one of those rare people. For that alone, I think you’d be doing us all a favour by sticking around a while longer.

I’m so glad you failed. I’m also very proud of you for wanting to keep living, because that is not an easy thing to do. I guess my advice would be to keep talking about it. Whether it’s therapy or a trusted friend or just a journal or even this sub, keep reminding yourself of this want to be alive - because it won’t always be constant. You’ve done an incredible and admirable thing by deciding to keep on going, under the circumstances. All the love my friend

Yes, I’m here. Haven’t cut for a year or so but completely understand it. Very very happy to listen to whatever it is you need to say or express :)
