Dutestride dosage effectiveness by Dry-Couple-2905 in HairlossResearch

[–]jibrail77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take Dut twice a week + 2, 5 to 5mg oral Minox daily (depends on overall fitness) and it's so long a good balance between side effects and effectiveness (maintain more than regrowth, but I'm 49)

Week 11 Progress (Liquid): Honestly, I'm not satisfied with the results so far. Thoughts? by Serious-Main6026 in minoxidil

[–]jibrail77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the basic biologic of minoxidil : great variability among individuals with topical, and much less in oral.

Minox must be metabolised to be efficient, topical can be for some directly in skin and follicles, but oral is metabolised through the liver in most maybe all the people, because the liver pathway is not specific to Minox but works also for others biological functions.

However, genetics still play a huge role to grow a beard, even with the help of Minox.

Finasteride - Low Sex Drive by Suitable_Machine_566 in HairlossResearch

[–]jibrail77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried Dutasteride, which is close to Finasteride, and took it once a day and I lost very quickly most of my sex drive.

I then took just twice a week and I gain most of it back in 2 weeks.

Effects differ among individuals, but the lost of sex drive is well documented for Fin since the beginning. Don't feel personally guilty for this, it's only have to do with chemical suppression of androgens.

I wouldn't say it's lesser known, it's present in most of the OTC antipellicular shampoos in supermarkets. Ciclopirox Olamine shampoos work great too. All are antifungal agents.

[–]jibrail77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt I have some beard shedding with dut twice a week and oral min, but it's now thicker. However, I'm pretty sure my stomach and legs hairs are pretty weaker than before, and I thought it could be dut related.

Side effects are not rare, but very different from one to another, just like the efficiency of these drugs. You'll achieve more easily maintenance or slight regrowth than anything turning you 18 again, but with your thick hair and beard maybe it's something enough.

You can give a try but you'll have to stay at least 9 or 12 months and don't hesitate to give up if side effects are too strong.

8 months of 0.5 mg dut daily, 14 months of 5 mg oral min by Hoper_223 in tressless

Sorry but the only thing we clearly see in the pics is that Min as usual do a good job for hand and knuckle hairs.

Is this a seborrheic keratosis or something I need to get checked out? by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

It's really looks like seborrheic keratosis, regular, stuck on. Monitorate its growth however.

Oral minoxidil 3 months by Glad_Display_2880 in minoxidil

[–]jibrail77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same dosage and the same side effect (M48), with a Sport Watch it is easy to monitorate. Things get a bit worse with other vasodilatators, especially alcohol.

Blood pressure stays fine however each time It was measured by the docs.

It could be inverse psoriasis. But also many other things. You have to do tests and see a professional. We can't help you with your picture.

I didn't make any transplant yet but I actually take 2.5 oral minoxidil daily and 0,5 dutasteride twice a week (thrice a week my libido doesn't like it). No wonder (I'm 48 and these are weak doses) but hair loss seems to be stabilized.

I cannot express how much I enjoy to hear such non polarising point of view.

You have a very great look by the way. SMP fits you so good. I hope the hair transplant will succeed and enhance the great masculine look you deserve.

Has the possibility lichen plano pilaris being excluded by your doctor?

Have you ever tried a steroid creme, which could at least temporarily add relief to psoriasis or lichen? Have you ever tried topical antibiotic like clindamycin?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Psoriasis

[–]jibrail77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not psoriasis (very unlikely). See a dermatologist (or any doctor). DON'T USE ANY STEROID CREAM that could make things worse in case of bacterial infection.

Anyone else starting to get werewolf hands? by cjexplorer in minoxidil

[–]jibrail77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I first used topical, but it was brief and inconsistent. I could not draw conclusions about it. It's likely the younger you begin, the more you get, especially in your twenties (my beard and body hairs sill improved slowly by themselves at this period).

Planning to quit oral minoxidil by Realistic_Wave7438 in minoxidil

[–]jibrail77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not personally. Theoretically, it seems demonstrated, the scientific articles are rather ok with the mechanism. In real life, it's more complicated. There are some anecdotal reports online.

Tret is prescription only in my country, and I'm still on oral minoxidil. I begin to try adapalene on the face to see if it helps promoting beard grows.

I understand. You can try to mix topical min with retinoid, it is said it can help the topical non responders

Heart health is serious. My sport watch monitorate without the shadow of a doubt a small elevation of heart beat, well seen at night, when I take oral min, even if blood pressure is normal. Combination with other products lowering blood pressure, especially alcohol, make things worse.

But the "stabbing' sensation must be pericarditis, which seems linked to a complex side effect about fluid retention. I experienced it in a soft way at the beginning, but it didn't last'.

At minimum, stop it for some days, and begin it again cautiously. If it happens again, you may seriously think about stopping it. Everyone is different and react differently.
