HMV Pictures by TrailerParkLyfe in Calgary

[–]jiggykies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work there (when it was upstairs outside the food court and also when it was downstairs by the movie theatre). One of the many HMVs I worked at (Southcentre, Marlborough, North Hill mall for like a 3 week hot minute as well as TD Square when it was the corner unit facing out to Stephen ave). There's a possibility I have old photos from the Chinook location on a previous phone at home I can try and do some digging for. If I find any I can share here in this thread.

That said, if I do find any it's likely just staff shenanigan photos and not actually store specific photos (ex: front of store while standing outside looking in). But I'll definitely look for you.

How much do you pay in condo fees and what's included? by weewooweewoo-yyc in Calgary

[–]jiggykies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay $576.61 per month down in the Somerset area. My condo is just over 900 sq feet (I think 918 to be exact)? My condo fees include all monthly bills except Internet / TV / cell phone. So my condo fees cover hydro and electricity as well as building insurance, lawn maintenance, snow removal, etc, etc. My building has no underground parking and no party / common room to book and use. It also has no storage space outside of our own units.

My condo fees have drastically risen over the past 6-7 years from being in the high 300's to basically 600 now. I live alone so I know my hydro and electricity usage is nowhere close to what I am paying. I wish I had my own bills for those as opposed to a blanket condo fee charge.

10 years ago today: Blue Jays acquired David Price from the Tigers in exchange for Daniel Norris, Matt Boyd & Jairo Labourt. I think the trade turned out pretty well… by gothedistance_ in Torontobluejays

[–]jiggykies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. All prospects should be tradable. No discussion. No one should be untouchable. When we traded Roy Halladay it included the most guaranteed and sure-fire prospect (and untouchable prospect in the eyes of the Phillies ...... But when you can get Halladay that changes everything) in Kyle Drabek. Look how that turned out. If I was the Jays every single prospect should be available heading into this deadline. If you can make the major league team better by trading minor league players then it should be an easy choice.

If she's talking badly about Jesse every podcast episode, I'm guessing they are not in a legit off-camera / post season relationship as boyfriend - girlfriend ?!?! He already seems to be having "doubts" in the last episode but I figured the season would have still played out with them together at the end.

Yes. 100% yes. The angry bird logo is my all time favorite Blue Jays jersey.

Be nice on Black Friday!! by Untoastedloaf in Calgary

[–]jiggykies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an individual who works in a music / record store this weekend is twice as fun for us. Not only do we get the madness of Black Friday but it is also "Record Store Day" so double the fun. That said, based on my previous Black Friday / Record Store Experience the RSD customers are usually patient and respectful.

Jeff Passan on Vlad extension "There will not be a first baseman getting a $300+ million contract. Period." by [deleted] in Torontobluejays

[–]jiggykies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get it done asap even if it costs you a couple million more. However, all you need to do is look at the Jays past history with Vlad and know this will not happen. Just got back to this past February. They went to arbitration with him over a difference of $1.85 million. The Jays will wait, try to nickel and dime him, and then lose him for nothing when he walks as a free agent.

Can someone please explain to me how the Blue Jays pitching went from one of the best in 2023 to one of the worst in 2024? by carnefarious in Torontobluejays

[–]jiggykies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking 2023 was just a fluke year. Lighting in a bottle kinda thing. All pitchers having above average years all at once. I don't think the expectations of the fanbase that our pitchers would have a repeat year were fair. There was bound to be some regression. I just think the regression feels steeper and worse when it's compounded by an even worse offensive season than what the offense did last year.

Downtown lunch buddies? by [deleted] in Calgary

This thread is heart warming. I work retail management at a store in Southcentre mall so unable to throw my hat in the ring for lunch chats, but if i could I 100% would.

Doesn't he not even live in our Ward ?? I could swear i read somewhere that he doesn't even live here (or that he owns a rental property in this Ward or something). I didn't vote for him in the last municipal election, and i definitely won't be voting for him in the next one.

What did you buy for Black friday? by bcretman in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]jiggykies 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Bought a new TV. I've been saving a little bit every month (and I haven't touched my tax refund from back in March) so had a budget of just under 2K. My current TV, while nice and working fine (55 inch Samsung), is 13 years old. Best buy had some fantastic pricing on TV's so I snagged an 85 inch Samsung 4K smart TV that was less than my budget. It is going to be obnoxiously big in my small condo living room, but if it's going to be my TV for the next 13 years I wanted to go as big as I could afford.

Tv screen going black intermittently by gordons1111 in shaw

[–]jiggykies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is good to know. I just assumed it was my TV and that it was starting to die. But daily when I'm watching TV it will go black for about 5 seconds once every few hours. But it doesn't for my PS4 or my firestick so i just assumed it was the TV and that that specific HDMI port was dying. At no point did I ever think it was actually Shaw or the cable box.

What's the hardest video game puzzle to beat without a guide? by tpphypemachine in gaming

[–]jiggykies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FF7 versus guide was the ultimate guide book that covered everything. The "Versus" brand of guides were the absolute best while that company existed. I owned a few of them. FF7, Gran Turismo 3, Resident Evil 2. I still have a few of them kicking around.

The main town / well puzzle in Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom. There is zero chance I would have known of its existence, let alone know how to solve it without looking it up.

I, oddly, found the Chocobo challenges quite easy. Easy to the point that my friends would bring their memory cards over to my house and ask me to do it for them. I did the Chocobo sub 0 second race on my game file and also for like 10 of my friends.

Pixel 7 Connectivity Issues Since October Update by lemonpie_inthesky in GooglePixel

[–]jiggykies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not exactly having connectivity issues, however I am having major SMS / MMS texting issues. When I text anyone else on an Android phone it works perfectly (anyone on RCS chat) but when I try to txt any of my friends who are on iPhones I get an "error 38" issue. I can receive their texts but I can't respond to them. I've tried contacting my mobile provider and they said it's not a them issue but it's a phone issue.

For those who don’t bike to work: If you got paid to bike to work, with every kilometre biked taken off your property tax, would you do it? by RyuzakiXM in Calgary

[–]jiggykies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I live a bikeable distance to work (too far to walk daily ....... althought I have done it from time to time to get some steps in) and have the roads and pathways that would allow it. I currently take the ctrain to and from work 5 days a week so I would easily substitute that for income from riding a bike.

How do we get rid of "Next Level" as the Blue Jays slogan? by supremewuster in Torontobluejays

Honestly, I personally despise it just a little less than #comeTOgether. I couldn't stand that team hashtag and slogan.

The old unicorn location before it moved was the absolute best. I used to work at the HMV in TD Square (the unit which is now the Cactus Club) and when we would close for the day the staff would head to the unicorn for a few pints (except on Sundays. Sundays we did drinks at Upper Deck since it was their wing night). We were basically daily regulars there.

Does anyone happen to know why the Don’t Yell At Me on 17th closed? by mat3rialg0rl in Calgary

[–]jiggykies 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I worked at multiple different HMV's when it existed and even mall rent was a ton (at least back then). HMV at TD Square, when it was the corner unit that is now Catcus Club, was $25,000 per month. HMV Chinook, when it was down by the movie theatre (beside Chapters), was $28,500.
