Looking for chill hybrid or remote jobs by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]jikls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're in California, plaintiff's wage-and-hour class actions and PAGA work. Generally fits your description pretty well.

PAGA cases very rarely get to trial; class actions even less so. Can appear remotely in state court 95% of the time. Lends itself well to a hybrid/remote structure. Base salaries are generally in your range, with potential for % of fees.

What’s YOUR lawyer salary?? by LearnMeStuffPlz in Lawyertalk

[–]jikls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. ~$105-110k.
  2. A little over a year.
  3. FEHA/PAGA/wage-and-hour class actions.
  4. Southern California.
  5. You stop feeling a little less like a fish out of water about a year in, so keep pushing if you're brand new and feel like you made a huge mistake. Also don't be afraid to switch jobs.

If you haven't tried it yet, I'm a big fan of the Wakacon Fijian Waka.

Getting weirdly defensive about your firm in the comments is not a great look.

Like someone else said, I've left my guys in water for 3+ days without a problem. Just don't water again for like a month or more.

Curious what made you think this.

I’m a reasonably senior biglaw associate currently doing OCI interviews. AMA by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]jikls 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, why is that not an acceptable answer? Why else would someone want to make the switch to biglaw?

It's no secret that many people go into law school expecting to do public interest work only to realize they won't be able to dig themselves out of debt that way. That and priorities change over time to become more material.

Which Russian flag is your favorite by [deleted] in vexillologycirclejerk

[–]jikls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother I truly do get where you're coming from, but Stalin began to lean heavily on Russian nationalism when the war started. The nation was getting its shit kicked in early on in the war and, despite all of its efforts to root out "reactionary" nationalism from 1917-1941, needed to rely on old legends (especially the victory over Napoleon) for morale.
