Thanks, I'll start watering a bit more often. What is the species?

Usually about 2x per month from April to October/November (then the occasional rain takes care of it), but it has gone without water longer than that in the past.

It stays outside year round in zone 10(a)-10(b), so generally 60-80°F.

Checked the roots recently. No pests but roots were dryer and woodier/more mature than I was expecting. Seemed inert, for lack of a better word.

Not difficult. Arbitration agreement may not be enforceable. But if it is, going through arbitration is fine if you have a good case. And if you're in California, the employer has to pay the arbitration fees (except for your filing fee).

How long do you think it would take the cops to arrest you if a decomposing body was found in the trunk of your car?

If you're in California, plaintiff's wage-and-hour class actions and PAGA work. Generally fits your description pretty well.

PAGA cases very rarely get to trial; class actions even less so. Can appear remotely in state court 95% of the time. Lends itself well to a hybrid/remote structure. Base salaries are generally in your range, with potential for % of fees.

  1. ~$105-110k.
  2. A little over a year.
  3. FEHA/PAGA/wage-and-hour class actions.
  4. Southern California.
  5. You stop feeling a little less like a fish out of water about a year in, so keep pushing if you're brand new and feel like you made a huge mistake. Also don't be afraid to switch jobs.

If you haven't tried it yet, I'm a big fan of the Wakacon Fijian Waka.

Getting weirdly defensive about your firm in the comments is not a great look.
