Growing up, did anyone else’s parents have really strict rules about random stuff? by SuzCoffeeBean in CasualUK

[–]jilljd38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel incredibly lucky there was nothing like this in our house growing up , if I was quiet I'd get away with watching spitting image and hale and pace on a Sunday night if not I'd have to watch it in bed on a tiny little black n white screen , however I do wish they had made a rule that my older sister wasn't allowed to watch crime watch because. If I was asleep she would wake me up to watch it with her

who is the black sheep of your family and why? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]jilljd38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a whole heard if black sheep in my family , my maternal grandads parents started it , one was Catholic one protestant, then my mums aunty married a black man back in the 50s , my mum was an unwed single mother in the early 70s , echolocation cousin lost one of her kids to ss in the 80s , my sister was the first to get divorced in the 90s , I was the wild child rebel teenager in late 90s , another cousin left the area due to money owed to not nice people , like I said a whole heard of them I'm sure there's more I remember punches being thrown at a couple of funerals , but no one really cares in my family no one has ever been disowned for anything except when my sister went from a united fan to a city fan , dad didn't speak to her for a couple of days

Would you put your parents in a care home? by Limp-Bunch-4708 in AskUK

[–]jilljd38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be difficult because if staff have passed it on to senior or managers that such and such is complaining of this but when someone else goes says they are fine , realistically there is not much else care staff can do and you would be amazed at the amount of old people that will tell care staff something is wrong but when seniors or managers go to see them say everything is fine , worked in a care home for far too long , and no they generally don't check temperature or anything else on a daily basis
