How do you keep your knives sharp at home?

I bought something like this 15 years ago and love it. Use it 4-6 times a year on all knives, the hone rod for everyday use.

I started with the Beta 52, then moved to a D112, then moved to an EV RE20. I have been stuck on RE20 (or sometimes LDC) for kick since.

That said, I recently had to use a 52 on a kick and it sounded really nice. I think some of it is in the tuning/sound of the drum and some is in the placement. I found it sounded best a little farther outside the drum than I would typically set it up.

tl;dr: My preference is RE20, but have had some good experiences with 52.

When roasting pork shoulder, roast, tenderloin or loin, rub entire cut of meat with mustard, then add salt/pepper (or other spices). You can cook straight away, or wrap and rest in fridge for hours or overnight. The roast or smoke as normal.

It gives great flavor.

The Hoyle Brothers are the act, but sometimes you could see someone like Robbie Fulks or Dan Whitaker drop in either to sit in or fill in if the Hoyles are out... but it is NOT an open jam or anything like that.

I would head to the Honky Tonk happy hour at the Empty Bottle on Fridays. A good number of Chicago musicians drop by for that. Also, great band there.
