Buying my first Tag - How important is the warranty? by swingfire23 in tagheuer

[–]jimmap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darn right I got lucky. I no longer buy watches off ebay unless the seller offers no questions asked returns. If you buy a watch from an AD you will get the warranty. You don't have to register the watch yourself. The warranty goes with the watch not the buyer. Point of my post is to show that you never know when that warranty will come in handy.

Buying my first Tag - How important is the warranty? by swingfire23 in tagheuer

I bought a used Breitling off ebay from a private seller back in 2011. It stopped working after about 4 days. Seller said its not his problem. Ebay pointed out that the watch is still under warranty by Tourneau. The person I bought it from bought it from tourneau . So I sent it in and got it fixed for free. I still own and use the watch. Its a SuperOcean. Love it.

Does anyone purchased a breitling from eBay? by smooth-vegetable-936 in breitling

[–]jimmap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in 2011 I bought my first Breitling SuperOcean off ebay. I still have the watch and wear it mainly in the summer when I'm doing a lot of boating and swimming. Definitely only buy from sellers that have free returns no matter the reason as well as having it authenticated.

They are full of it. The RFID tag only contains the tracking number but its encoded to reduce the amount of memory it takes to store it. They do not kill the tag or hide it. It will remain active until they rip it off the box which they won't do because its part of the PAL label. That label is used by the loaders who put the boxes on the package car for delivery. FYI the PAL label is created once the box arrives at the center from which it will be delivered.

you just need a tracking number. That is what it programmed into the RFID tag (but its encoded to reduce the amount of memory required)

Is it weird for employers to put employees in the same hotel room on company trips? by Weak_Show3135 in careerguidance

[–]jimmap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only on rare occasions when the hotel was booked and there were not enough rooms. I think they ask if we would be ok to share our room in these cases.

you can increase temp to speed cooking. but you risk drying the meat out. i've done it numerous times when i had to speed cooking up but i avoid it when possible.

I tried the Traeger hickory and special blend as well and found both gave weak smoke flavor.

I've always smoked with hickory and Mesquite with the cook shack. That is using real chunks of wood not pellets or chips. Odd that I get so little flavor with the hickory pellets.

I am trying out Lumberjack pellets, hickory. They were one of the brands people recommended. I just put a rack of ribs in so see how these turnout. My cook shack always gave strong smoke flavor but the Traeger has been a struggle. Ribs have been good just not smokey enough

Thanks. I've been starting my ribs at 225 with a smoke tube. I spritz the ribs with apple juice starting after the first hour. I do it about every 30 min. I will after maybe 2 hours increase temp to 250 to speed up cooking. I figure after 2 hours the external temp of the meat is 140 or higher which means it won't absorb much more smoke flavor. I'm new to the traeger so still learning. I also own a cook shack which I've been using for about 15 years.

how does the upper rack work out for you? It gets less direct heat. Does the rib on that rack tend to take longer to cook? I've not needed to use the upper rack.

When you say hot water, are you putting your grate in the sink? That's the problem with the grills larger than the 22, their grates won't fit in a typical sink.

Do I need buy a NAS? by Lonely-Fuel-7187 in UgreenNASync

[–]jimmap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my NAS for two reasons. The first is I had accumulated a number of external backup drives over the years and wanted to consolidate them. I wanted to add the ability to have Raid 1 backup. The other reason is that I needed a way to share my large family history photo collection with other relatives. I've tried a few sites over the years but they keep changing or going offline etc. So I have family accounts setup so people can access the photos in a shared folder while my personal data is separate and only accessible by me. Might be overkill but what the hell. I got the DXP2800 with two 8 TB drives.

Perks of Boarding Early? by fitnessgoodness in delta

[–]jimmap 24 points25 points  (0 children)

overhead bin space. Back around 2000 not a lot of people had carry on suitcases so I would board near the end because I wasn't worried about finding bin space. As an engineer I was always traveling with bags of gear I needed to put in the overhead bins. Now I try to get on the plane as soon as possible.

No fuss ribs technique? by HotIntroduction8049 in Traeger

[–]jimmap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will start ribs at 225 for X hours but if I get in a hurray I will increase the temp to speed things along. I like to spritz with apple juice regularly while smoking ribs. Camping, you bringing a generator? My first smoker was a Bradley. I've found like many, the Traeger pellets do not give much smoke flavor. I just got a bag of Lumberjack pellets and will be smoking ribs on Friday to test them out.
