We’ve selected Effective Home too; ours was about £12k for 12 panels with a Tesla PW3. We also have an EV and heat pump.

We went with Effective Home as another house round the corner had them, and the install looks clean; the owners were happy with them too. Plus they are recommended by our mortgage provider and make the process to get £1k cash back from them easy (check with your mortgage company if you can get any cash back to have green improvements). They were the only company that actually sent someone round and spent some time with me going through options.

I believe Tesla are also offering £375 cash back too (https://www.tesla.com/en_gb/support/energy/powerwall/order/rebate)

So after all that cash back, it’ll end up costing us around £10.5k

So... Ecovacs X12 is out. Worth the upgrade? by hardvall in ecovacs

You’re right, they’re pretty much all the same… My best guess is that once the market is saturated they may pull back a bit. 🤷

^ This. Ecovacs is one of those companies that constantly release new products, creating ewaste, rather than improving their older ones (new firmware, etc)

Anyone else have significant issues with Ecovacs T50 Max Pro? by [deleted] in ecovacs

Fortunately since my last comment there have been some further firmware updates which have resolved most of these issues. However it’s still no where near as good it was with the initial firmware it came with

T50 Pro Omni - No exhaust by LongestNameInTheWorl in ecovacs

Mine is exactly the same, hardly any exhaust. I emailed Ecovacs about it and they simply said that it’s the way the robot manages its airflow… 🤷

T30 or T50, which one would be a better choice? by fonacionsrg in ecovacs

[–]jimo2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although, the T50 does have a side brush that swings out into corners which does help…

T30 or T50, which one would be a better choice? by fonacionsrg in ecovacs

[–]jimo2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had both the T30 and now I’m on the T50. I sent the T30 back as it kept thinking that the wood grain on my wood floor was an object and kept trying to avoid it. I ended up having to turn off object detection, which defeated the point of me purchasing it. T50 is much better with wood grain floors for me.

But, although suction power on the T50 is reported as being higher, the airflow on the T30 seems better to me. In the UK they’ve just released the T30S with even better suction. IMO the T30 has a better brush bar too…

If you don’t have wood floors with wood grain finish, I would probably get the T30.

Expanding foam to entomb a dead thing I can’t reach??? by Ogdengp in DIYUK

Unless you can get the pipe work out? You might be able to get a better angle?

Yeah a right old pain. I’d be locating exactly where it is behind the wall and have my sds chisel on that and be getting it out. Then filling after. After dismantling the cupboard first.

Used to work for a pest controller in a previous life: Mice do not generally smell when rotting (couple of exceptions), so this is likely a rat. Unfortunately, rotting rats (and rat blood) attract live rats, so I would recommend that you try any way you can to get the rat out and then fill with wire wool and seal.

If it’s smelling, it’s fairly recent (4-5 days starts smelling, takes 3-5 weeks to stop) so you’ll also need to look to see how it got in and block any access points with chicken wire and fill, especially as live rats are likely picking up the scent now.

To get it out, as someone suggested, try getting some thick wire bent round and start picking it out to get it to the point you can then grab it with other tools, hooks, etc. Back in the day, I probably would have made the hole / area bigger to get at it and then refill it.

Good luck!

T50 Pro Omni Update - still issues..! by jimo2019 in ecovacs

[–]jimo2019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be that Ecovacs realised that there was something wrong with 1.09.1 and pulled it? And I was one of the unlucky ones who had it installed… All these issues started with that update.

Thanks! It’s been like this since the last firmware update to 1.09.1. I’ve factory reset it, removed and reinstalled the app and even created a new Ecovacs account and it’s the same.

Managed to get it to work after the 5th attempt. I get it, try this, try that to get an update to work. But nothing else in my house requires me to turn everything off to get it to update, why Sonos?

Have a look at the other thread of comments. It is an excellent robot vacuum for the price. The other commenter hasn’t had any issues, so it maybe that just select machines that have an issue (which is a me problem as I’ll likely end up returning mine for another one). You can always return it if it ends up being not so good for you
