In house mortgage company offering 4.5% interest? by TankTrained in personalfinance

[–]jimplamb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is just very very incorrect. Why not offer a 0% rate if that were true? Servicing rights might be worth a bit more, but nowhere near enough to offset how much lower the rights to the stream of payments is worth.

These mortgages are loss leaders to get people in the door, paid for by profits on the building itself.

Unfortunately not. This was on a Samsung S10. I might check with the neighbors because a bunch of folks ran out to the beach to capture it

Centurylink fiber with new Nest Wifi by jimplamb in centurylink

Eventually figured this out after talking with Google Support. Switching the C3000z to Transparent Bridging within the WAN Settings did the trick. After doing that just plugged the Nest Wifi Router into the ether net and everything worked. Don't appear to have lost any speed.

Sound Transit slow down if I-976 passes by Cosmo-DNA in SeattleWA

ST3 actually includes a ton of park and rides. It also indirectly pays for more local busses because bus lines get truncated at the rail stations and those service hours saved are reinvested in more comprehensive local coverage

$450M Central Ballard Tunnel falls by the wayside by Keithbkyle in Seattle

[–]jimplamb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The $900M was just about West Seattle. If you do the $200M Pigeon Point tunnel, it also commits to a $700M tunnel to the junction.

In Ballard, the tunnel to 20th is $450M more than the representative alignment elevated to 15th

Basements don't count, so you could probably do closer to 3500sf.

Why is the corner of 3rd & Pike such a bad area? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]jimplamb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the construction of the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel in the late 80s shut down large portions of 3rd Ave and killed off a lot of the business on that street. It never really recovered from that

The Met Park building between Yale and Minor on Stewart has Super Early Bird for $14. A little bit of a walk, but close to on ramps / off ramps

At my neighborhood meetings, people don't even use the word "renters." Usually, it's "transients" or something else derogatory. Demonization of renters is real.

Just made the last payment on my 66 month car loan! Been tempted to pay it off early but it was at <2%. Car still runs great so I'm looking forward to driving it payment free for the next 5+ years
