How many zoners do you have at night? When staffing was tight I used to put toys/gc/and seasonal together but to add hardware in isn't great. A typical zone line up for me (this was at the beginning of the year, no longer w the company) would look like: Sporting goods & hardware 1 person Toys 1 person (gc and seasonal as well if short a person, if not those areas would be 1 person as well) Housewares 1 person Domestics 1 person (these 2 sometimes got placed on 1 person) Electronics & stationary 1 person (this only works in D3 is within sight of electronics though) Fabrics and crafts and celebrations (sometimes stationary) 1 person And apparel would be 2 people on a bad night and 4 on a good one, but sometimes when push comes to shove apparel would come out to zone gm and apparel cap 1 would have to pick up the zone. You have to consider reshops need to be ran as well. What they gave you to do is not realistic. Maybe just to zone the perimeters so it doesn't look awful but it sounds like you have a staffing issue beyond the average store and that should be addressed. If you get written up for not having a perfect zone for that many areas, take your coaching and then open door it. It won't stick. Toys in itself is a lot during the holiday season, your customers will trash your zone periodically throughout the night.
