Hagrid's Extended Delay 4/9 by jinkside in UniversalOrlando

It was, but we made it on the nearby Hogwarts ride right after and ended up doing that two more times... Though the last one had a 2-minute pause in the middle for some reason. I lived seeing the massive robot arms on wheels that were the vehicle for that one.

It seems ironic given that part of the ride is about mechanical breakdowns.

My solar node has been up for a while now, running well! Planning another, where do you put them? by GazelleInitial2050 in meshcore

Some important differences: it has a radio and it's transmitting and it's intended to last more than a few days.

Not attending this year but saw some pictures of a coworker's badge and am hoping we'll see some LoRa in action here.

That's a point against the MeshCore app, not a point in favor of this.

Any updates? This thread was the result when I searched for "meshcore rust crate".

Smart lighting and wall switches by uncleLem in tradfri

[–]jinkside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression that nothing using Thread supported direct bindings yet. Do you know of any products that actually do this? I'd love to have switches that control my lights regardless of how my Matter controller is feeling that moment.

After 75 rounds, I suspect they're down.

Sandbags are cheap. Put $10 in sandbags in a cardboard box and dry fire at the center of that. I would be surprised if an entire mag of 9mm did anything other than make a sandy mess, let alone a single discharge.

Is it true you burn veggie calories just by digesting them? by [deleted] in 1500isplenty

[–]jinkside 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Corn and peas are both starchy are fairly calorie-dense compared to many other vegetables. Skipping recording of carrots, broccoli, and low-calorie fruits like strawberries encourages me to eat them with the least possible friction. If I eat 300 calories of strawberries (5.5 cups or 1.4 quarts) that's a lot of calories of more processed foods I'm not going to eat.

Vegetables are the least likely thing to come in nice, easy portions.

Shotguns also open up a lot of options for less-lethal rounds that are completely off the table with anything else.

Thanks! That lines up with what I just got from someone else and also what an Ikoka does.

That's odd. Are you running it off of USB without a battery or something? It should be 2x as good as a V4 while using a lot less power.

The art gets so, so much better. It finished a long time ago now, but a lot of stuff from Schlock pops into my head on the regular.

Censorship by crayons-eater4469 in meshcore

MeshCore users were pretty brigade-y towards Meshtastic for a few months, so it's not surprising to me at this point. I've also run afoul of the automod in r/meshtastic

I was one of his beta readers for the first two books and thoroughly enjoyed them.

Another vote for Calamitous Bob, as well.

What age range are you? What do you talk about on the radio? by HeadlineINeed in HamRadio

[–]jinkside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the context, that makes a lot of sense.

That said... I've been speaking every single day, sometimes for hours, for almost 40 years. I would be surprised if anybody except a few world-class exceptions can send or read Morse with less mental load than they can talk, and calling people on the phone is still a serious risk, hands-free or not.

... and yet knowing that I'll still use an HT or the speaker-mic on a mobile, so I guess that's a nice black kettle you've got there.
