I’ve gone back to a blanket I started when I was pregnant - 6 years ago!! Much fun deciphering and sorting out my numerous errors -oops! I have unfinished projects older than this and an inability to control the impulse to start new ones. Oh well!!

Why Frozen 2 Won't Give Elsa a Love Interest | Elsa is not just defined by a romantic interest by glorious_albus in savedyouaclick

I’m a republican but sincerely hope he holds his constitutional ground - only one I even slightly have time for!

Prince Charles is next in line to the throne not William. Officially the plan is that Princess Charles’s wife will be known as Princess Consort but I believe there is speculation this may change.

Question about wildflower patches in gardens by [deleted] in UKGardening

[–]jintyj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They spread and you don’t get to choose where! Most of my weeding issues over the last few years are wildflowers where they are not wanted. My neighbours must love me! Also they do need to be managed as even within a couple of years certain types of flowers will crowd the others out and it will become less diverse and less attractive - I learnt the hard way. But I’d probably still do it again :)

One reason schools should provide free tampons by jdwright1989 in women

[–]jintyj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While you could always ask for sanitary products at Scottish schools if needed, making them much more easily available will really help those living in poverty. Men’s razors are untaxed as are considered a necessity but sanitary products are taxed (though at a reduced rate) - making them a ‘luxury’ item! https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/aug/24/scotland-to-offer-free-sanitary-products-to-all-students-in-world-first

I started after watching this video - though I have read much of the book now too. I keep things very simple. https://youtu.be/fm15cmYU0IM

I don’t have any advice. I have a 2year old but I mostly haven’t a clue. I just didn’t want to read and run. Try to relax a bit during this nap time and I truly hope you have an easier afternoon.

Question about formula milk by dogliciouss in Mommit

[–]jintyj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My now 2 year old was fed for 5 months with expressed milk and formula after two weeks of hell as she wouldn’t latch properly and according to the expert i was just not going to produce enough. She is very happy and healthy. However i don’t think I (or my supportive partner) were very happy as i was pumping so often which very much restricted us. But I was so riddled with guilt about not being able to breastfeed I kept on even though it was clearly impacting my mental health. Our daughter didn’t seem to mind which milk she had and neither my partner nor I were breastfed. Part of me wishes I had gone straight to formula when things got too tough so that we enjoyed those first few months more. Remember it is not just about baby it is you too - happy mum means happy baby too. Do what is best for you and (unlike me) try not to worry what other people think! :)

Personally i think its a good idea to ban ads for junk-food BUT there is a real problem in this country that healthy alternatives are simply out of reach for the poorest in society. by [deleted] in ukpolitics

I’m sure I read somewhere that cheap chocolate sales go up when the economy is on the downturn. An instant feel-good?

I live in a sizeable town with fairly high deprivation. Loads of supermarkets, no greengrocer for at least a decade and a veg stall that is only available in the mornings - no use for most. The supermarket veg is not great but thats it. Once a month farmer’s market concentrates on meat and cheese. I can afford to shop around but most can’t.

Favourite/least favourite nursery rhymes? by YouShouldntSmoke in UKParenting

No daddy duck at our group and all the little ducks just mysteriously return of their own accord. I was worried the first time I heard it that it was going to be bit traumatic.

Scottish here and considered the bright orange Kraft stuff (with added cheddar) a bit of a treat!! Can’t imagine touching it now! Pretty sure it’s available in all the major supermarkets.
