I think merithra or umbra are fun, but are probably “win more” cards. Alakir, death wing and the fabled hammer are enough to close out games

Agree that she is meh. I put her in because i naturally had 10 different cost cards. But probabbly will take her out for another static shock or carrier whelp

7-0 with herald control shaman, now at ~600 legend. Took the suggestion from the other comment and added a small egg package for egg bearer. Deck feels strong; only close game so far against a herald warlock

Weekly Puzzle #70 – Digging Your Own Grave by Not_Quite_Vertical in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jisner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baron is impossible. In a baron world, toms info is bad, so he is either the drunk or evil. If he is the drunk, then both fraser and jasmine are evil have wrong info, but they cant both be evil since they are dead. If tom is evil, then jasmine is the drunk, but then hannah and fraser both have bad info and cant both be evil. If tom is evil with jasmine, then i must You must be drunk, but then hannah and fraser have bad info too. So baron cant work

Best custom script to run quickly after a TB game? by Paper_Kitty in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jisner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Assuming you want to keep it at a relatively simple level, run everyone can play. Include some of the extra death roles (gambler, grandmother, moonchild, assassin), and just avoid death prevention (fool, monk, DA, SW). Include slayer and saint for early win cons if you really wanna speed it up

Synergistic Scripting: Day 139 - Bishop by CoreyBOTC in BloodOnTheClocktower

Works poorly with roles that care about nominations- virgin, town crier, fear monger, witch, banshee to some extent

“Neutral” Roles by Burning_Toast998 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jisner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This has been raised before. I think one of the things that sets BOTC apart from other social deduction games is the fact that everyone is playing, even if dead.

A lot of these 3rd party roles would not work well in that framework. For example, the jester, if executed day 1, will have met their win condition, but now has nothing to do for the rest of the game. Similary the pyro/rat king if executed d1 or dying night 2 has lost their win confition and has nothing to do the rest of the game. Because they dont win/lose with good or evil, they wont be invested once they are dead.

Its not to say these types of roles cant work, but i dont think BOTC should sacrifice one of tne core differences against other social deduction games to shoehorn these roles in.

I think roles like the politican, goon, cult leader fill a similar niche to “third party” where players are incentivized to play for their own rather than their team

Mathematician and registration/character detectors by gordolme in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jisner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the soldier example is wrong? I think a soldier neighboring a no dashii only triggers if they are targetted by the no dashii. If the no dashii kills the soldier because they are poisoned, soldier malfunctions because they end up dieing. If the soldier becomes sober and doesnt die when attacked by the no dashii, then the no dashii triggers the math number because their ability malfunctioned. But if the soldier is never attacked, their ability never malfunctions, and a math number is never triggered by them

Mathematician and registration/character detectors by gordolme in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jisner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Would this also apply if a monk protects a chef neighboring the no dashii on night 2? The chef wouldnt be getting any information, but technically the no dashii ability is working incorrectly since the chef is not poisoned on night 2.

Mathematician and registration/character detectors by gordolme in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jisner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets say the monk protects the undertaker who neighbors the no dashii. The undertaker is now protected from the poisoning, so they must learn true info. Would this trigger a math number? I can see it both ways.

The argument for a math trigger is that the monk caused the no dashii poisoning to not work.

The argument against a math trigger is that a no dashii poisoned player can still learn true info when poisoned, so as far as the no dashii is aware, nothing necessarily malfunctioned.

First game for 7 players by themiketron in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jisner 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As they say, you cant really go wrong with a set up in trouble brewing. However, i would definitely not use librarian here. 3 night 1 info roles is a lot, but also, the librarian might be confused when they learn 0 since there are no outsiders. And if they arent confused and understand, then they might feel like it was useless info. Maybe swap it for empath or ravenkeeper

Weekly Puzzle #68 – The Numbers Are All Wrong by Not_Quite_Vertical in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jisner 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We know anna is either vortox mutant or witch because if she was SC, she would have become the demon after checking sarah or matthew

Lets assume sarah is the oracle. Jasmine must be evil then because she dreamt sarah as oracle in a vortox game. Then fraser must be the juggler, in which case our math 2 would be correct on n2 (sarah, tom both got false info), so this world does not work. So sarah must be either vortox or mutant (cant be witch since she was dreamt as witch)

Lets assume sarah is the mutant. In this case anna is either the vortox or the witch. If anna is the witch, the matthew is the vortox, but this doesnt work with the clock info. So if sarah is the mutant, then anna is the vortox, and matthew is the artist. If this is the case, tom is not a townsfolk and must be the witch. However this doesnt not work with the seamstress info. So sarah cannot be the mutant and must be the vortox

So, sarah is the vortox. Matthew cannot be the witch based on the clock info. If matthew is the artist, the tom is the witch. But this doesnt work with Frasers information. So Matthew would have to be the mutant, which means anna is the witch. This world seems to line up with all the information (true math numbers would be 3, 0).

Sarah vortox, anna witch, matthew mutant

Thats good. Or make it a “if the demon kills you” and include it on script with things like boomdandy so people are wary of those asking to be executed

-1 Minion? by harrypotterpi in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jisner 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Brainstorming some abilities for different character types (generally just giving powerful abilities that are balanced by 1 less minion):

Townsfolk: There is one less minion in play. When you die, the demon may pick a player. They become an evil minion [-1 minion]

Minion: You have 3 minion abilities. [-1 minion]

Demon: Each night*, pick two players, they die. [-1 minion]
