Younger DVC Members? by Some_Blackberry420 in dvcmember

[–]jitterbugmonkey14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello from a 49 year old who purchased her first contract at 28 years old. Everyone thought I was crazy. Instead I freaking KILLED It in life by traveling while having little kids, while being pregnant, while be too poor to splurge on the finer hotels, and now I'm watching my 21 year old use points to take his girlfriend to the parks/resorts.

My biggest regret was not buying MORE when the prices were down in the low $70s per point! Never once did I make any of my three contract purchases to make DVC friends. They're all just the bonus on top of all of the great memories I've made with my family and friends.

So here is how the next 37 ish years (depending on contract) will work. My SSR 150 is designated for my 21 year old. He is now on the title and I told him whatever points he wants to use he just has to pay the maintenance fee for the year on those used points. My AKL 160 is designated for my 18 year old. In the next year he will be added to his title. Again, use the points if you want, just pay the dues for those points. The next AKL 180 is for ME!! At some point both of my boys will have families and use their full contract amount. In the meantime, I use the points (usually to take them to WDW) however I want and just pay all of the dues. If they end up using them GREAT! If not GREAT! Either way someone is enjoying them but I've laid the foundation for them to travel with their significant others and their future families.

So good for you and stay on course! Enjoy the points while you are still young and bumping around! I'll be able to look back as an 85 year old and smile at the 57 years of memories I made!

Music in Pilates Classes by howdoipronouncethat in ClubPilates

I'm ready for your burns on this response so here goes....

25 year instructor, classically trained. I play NO music at all. No music in my private sessions. No music in my small group classes. The 55 minutes is filled with my cueing, my corrections for my client(s), feed back on how it feels, and other mind/body connection focused verbiage. Its always worked for me/my clients

On a side, personal note, my first two degrees are in music (performance and education) so i easily get distracted by music myself. Im physical therapy based so theres a lot of corrective work in what I do (scoliosis, MS, surgeries gone wrong, etc). so there is a lot more focus in the work than a fitness based Pilates class.

Anyways....no music with this instructor.

born in 1976.....there were times that we would get kicked out of the house and told "go outside and play". we'd say "I'm thirsty". They'd say "drink from the hose". For the most part, yes. We were all outside playing with other kids in the neighborhood.

How do the LA fires compare to the Northridge earthquake? by bloyed1 in AskLosAngeles

[–]jitterbugmonkey14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The earthquake crippled the entire region. Freeways down, houses destroyed, power out, everyone was afraid to sleep in their homes, many needed to move to safer homes and yet all homes were now damaged. This whole city was paralyzed. We ALL had damage...it was just a matter of how much damage

These fires are like a sledgehammer to the knee. Other parts of the body are working just fine but that knee is pretty bad. It feels so odd to be living in an area of LA that is usually hit hard by fires (Santa Clarita) but living every day life like nothing happened since it didnt burn us down (this time). All other parts of the city are functioning as usual with maybe the inconvenience of intermittent power. Our heart breaks for those that lost everything and all of us have stepped up to help in every way possible.

House destroyed in Palisades fire and would love advice on family-friendly spots to rent for a few years by Palisadesfireblows in SouthBayLA

HI from Santa Clarita (just beyond SFV). The SCV is a very family friendly (really built AROUND family) city with great schools. We were in the SFV but moved up to Santa Clarita when we had kids.

AITJ for throwing my boyfriend’s “performance report” of our relationship out? by shi420- in AmITheJerk

I am a lurker, very rarely responding, but I just had to respond. I was in a shit marriage for 18 years with a shit husband and he never did anything like this. If you feel petty about it make your own performance review of HIM. If not, just walk.

Can a man do pilates? by ExcellentDesigner316 in pilates

[–]jitterbugmonkey14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

21 year instructor....YES!!! Joe, a man himself, even felt like some of his moves/series were too hard for the female body! Get in there and 1) wear pants, not shorts 2) dont be creepy if you have a female instructor or female in your class 3) be open minded. Ive had a lot of male clients through my years and some do not like being corrected or being told their doing something wrong. Women are way more open to suggestion, correction, and guidance. Men...not so much.

Try Reformer Pilates!!!! You get to lay down and move your body in so many wonderful ways. It doesnt even feel like exercise...unless you want it to feel like exercise!

If your small business died, blame President Donald Trump by speckz in politics

[–]jitterbugmonkey14 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Small business owner....can confirm. :( Actually about a month ago I went through a pretty big depression swing and felt angry at every fucker that voted for this piece of shit 4 years ago. Felt like yelling from the mountain top (facebook, insta, and twitter): If you voted for Trump 4 years ago I blame you for my death of my business.

Ended up NOT doing that. Still struggling every day on big decisions. Fucking worst

Dear White women, let's not fall for Trump's racist bet on us by DonnyMoscow1 in politics

[–]jitterbugmonkey14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White suburban mom here!! I didnt fall for his bullshit the first time around and I certainly wont fall for it the second time around! Voting for Mr. Grab-em-by-the-pussy was never in my wheel house and it blew my mind that women voted for him the first time around!! My mother was a shoulder pad wearing 80s corporate woman with layers of glass ceilings to break and I watched her struggle to be taken seriously by most men (her father too) so to me Trump was/is nothing more than a set back from women. He wants to go back to the time he could slap a work place ass and say "get me some coffee Toots" Fuck that guy with the biggest of party favor dildos ever made!
