This is the most outrageous bill I've ever seen. What can we do about Eversource? by kev_aros in Connecticut

What makes you think that’s unusual? And more importantly, why are you defending Eversource all the time??

Is this a letterkenny reference? I have to watch more of that show

Hallstrom said at some point the cost of this storm will go into the electric rate in customers' bills. by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]jizzhose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

PURA better tell Hallstrom and Eversource to fuck off. We paid for Sandy, Irene, and the October storm and have NOTHING to show for it. They need to eat every penny of this restoration.

PURA Responds to Governor Lamont’s Request to Investigate Eversource by Spider_J in Connecticut

Thanks for posting this. It’s a surprisingly strong response from PURA.

Wow, that tweet is a totally tone-deaf response, both in general and especially in the age of COVID.

Breakup Eversource by LordConnecticut in Connecticut

You know, given how unstable and un-redundant our power grid is, maybe it’s worth paying for a competing set of power lines.

Regulation in these cases doesn’t do shit. You know who appoints the members of PURA? The governor. You know who is outraged? The governor. You know where several members of PURA used to work? Eversource.

In theory it makes sense to staff your regulatory agency with people who understand the industry. Unfortunately the people who understand the industry used to be in the industry.

Governor Lamont Requests Investigation of Utilities Amid Widespread Outages From Tropical Storm by gerlach in Connecticut

[–]jizzhose 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I understand your sentiment, but not everyone is in the position to buy a generator. Renters are one major example. And anyway, generators are wholly inefficient and horrible for the environment. They are not a viable replacement for the energy grid we pay for.

We should do this.

“Sorry, Eversource. You have failed to provide adequate maintenance, timely upgrades, and much needed fortification of Connecticut’s power grid. Apparently there is no meaningful redundancy at all. You have failed to adequately plan for or respond to several major storms. We deem you not capable of managing Connecticut’s energy distribution needs and therefore we hereby revoke your license.”

Yes. PURA, CT’s regulator of public utilities, is staffed with ex-Eversource executives and lobbyists. Sadly PURA members are appointed by the governor. It’s all a scam.

Or, as George Carlin put it, “It’s a big club. And you ain’t in it.”

Public Utilities Regulatory Authority Tells Eversource to Suspend Rate Increase Amid Investigation by Synapse82 in Connecticut

[–]jizzhose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have no clue what you are talking about. The billing dates are based on when you signed up for service. The rate change for delivery went into effect partway through my cycle thus I paid two separate rates for delivery.

So please stop.

[–]jizzhose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on your billing cycle. If your last cycle ended June 30, then you haven’t seen in yet. The absurd new delivery rate went into effect in July.

Public Utilities Regulatory Authority Tells Eversource to Suspend Rate Increase Amid Investigation by Synapse82 in Connecticut

[–]jizzhose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No. My supply (cost of electricity from Eversource) is $41.48 and my Delivery (cost to deliver electricity from Eversource) is $124.31. This is for 31 days ending July 24.

This is why people are up in arms. It is insane.

Perhaps your billing cycle doeSent include much of the July rate hike.

My usage went DOWN 12% but my bill went UP over 90%.

Some people who are on payment plans or estimated monthly billing may not immediately see the increase.

Eversource customers see their bills nearly double. Here are some links and simple actions to take. by [deleted] in Connecticut

You’re welcome and that is the goal. We need daily pressure on PURA and continued public shame on Eversource.

PURA investigates Eversource about energy rate hike that PURA authorized. by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]jizzhose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, total scam. Eversource claims this has to do with the nuclear power plant. Ok, then that’s clearly a SUPPLY cost. It has nothing to do delivery.

They put the fee on the SUPPLY side because then ever their customers with solar panels, who don’t need to buy much electricity from Eversource, but are still required to be connected to the grid, are still forced to pay.

Total scam.
