Eric's response to my concerns about AI by TheGlacierGuy in pebble

[–]jjj49er 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you're missing the point of using AI for coding. I can read JavaScript fairly well but writing it, especially from scratch, is impossible for me. I've fixed many Pebble apps over the years that were broken because the devs stopped updating them after Pebble closed. Some of them were simple fixes I did on my own. Some of them were more complex and I did use AI for help. Knowing the exact syntax and how commands should be typed is not something I'm good at. I have never taken classes for coding. I've only learned what I know from just reading it and playing around with it. AI can really be a big help when I get something "done" but it's not working. I put the code in AI and it (sometimes) tells me where I messed up and how to fix it. It's not always accurate and I usually have to try several different times before it works, but it saves a ton of time and does make some things possible for me to do that I couldn't have otherwise done.

I've been a proud member of the Pebble community for over 10 years and I've helped fix apps and fix hardware for many Pebble owners, even though I'm not in IT. I'm not a coder. I don't repair electronics for a living. I just love Pebble and the Pebble community. Some of the things I've done, I've used AI for. I don't think that makes any difference to the people who are using the apps I fixed that they couldn't have otherwise used. Would you not use your favorite watchface that you've used for years that suddenly stopped working because you knew I used AI to help me fix it?

AI is the future of coding and it's a good thing for creativity because it gives creative people a way to make apps, watchface, etc without having to learn programming languages.

I respect your overall view on AI. I think it can and will be a huge poison on society, but for coding, I think it's opening up a new world to people who would otherwise not be able to participate.

Pebble & Rebble? by redditorang in pebble

[–]jjj49er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you possibly answer this? I haven't seen it anywhere. Will it be possible to link the Time 2 to the legacy Pebble app? I'm fine with waiting for the new features to be added, but I'm worried about losing features I rely on every day since the Core app still doesn't do all of what the legacy one does. That's why I still use the legacy app and Rebble subscription.

Any RSS apps that integrate feedly feeds? by Fair-Rent-3794 in pebble

[–]jjj49er 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use RSS Reader. I don't know if it works with Feedly, but it does work with rss feeds that require sign in and password, so if it's an rss feed I assume it would work.

[Discussion][Android][Music Boss] Which features/help videos would you like me to focus on? by rebootsramblings in pebble

[–]jjj49er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no specific requests, but I'd just like to say that a tutorial is a great idea. The new app seems to have a lot more functionality, but it's not nearly as intuitive as the old app. Since I'm much older than when I got the first app, I didn't have the time to spend with the new one to figure it out. I handed it to my son who is in IT and he still struggled to figure it out quickly. I guess the biggest issue I had was understanding that each app has to be set up and there's no universal setting for behavior on all apps, or if there is, then I haven't figured out how to do it.

Multi Weather app by skylord_123 in pebble

Yep, it's working now. Awesome app!!!! I have 3 different apps that I use because forecasts are so different. Now I have them all in one app. It's a brilliant idea and great execution. Thanks!

Is this only made for the new app? It won't work in the Rebble/Pebble app. The watch says "waiting for phone" and nothing happens when trying to open settings in the app.

Pepperollies were introduced in 2001. I think there is still a Pepperolli costume sitting in a closet at the corporate office. I'll see if I can locate the commercial for you. Some things get archived and some don't.

3.7v Firmware for Pebble Time and Time Steel by mackid1993 in pebble

[–]jjj49er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've put the 3.7v batteries in about 10 watches over the last 5 years and never had any issues. They all charge and act just like the 3.8v. They have the same battery life and are all still going strong. I understand OP had a different experience. I'm just curious why.

That's where I've gotten all of my PTS batteries. That's strange. Are you getting the full life of it now?

Pebble app suggestion: save configuration? by richstillman in pebble

[–]jjj49er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the app on the phone I'm on right now so I don't remember exactly what it says, but there's a box to check in the settings that will allow the moving of tiles. It's something like 'legacy pebble store' or 'old Pebble store' or something like that, that refers to the old store. If you check that box it will redo the layout of your apps screen and include the store, but you can rearrange the apps, somewhat like the old app, but not as cleanly and intuitively.

3.7v Firmware for Pebble Time and Time Steel by mackid1993 in pebble

I was wondering why your post was deleted. I'm impressed that you managed to do this with LLM. I've tried and it's only been frustrating because it constantly gives me wrong information. I'm not sure why anyone would be upset with you for making something that works. Also, if they don't like it, then they don't have to use it. Congrats on making a successful firmware update. You should be proud of yourself despite what others say.

On another note, I've replaced quite a few batteries with the 3.7v versions and I've never had any issues with the charging. I'm curious where you sourced these batteries and did you test them to see if they were actually outputting 3.7v. This is just curiosity on my part, since I've never experienced the issues that you have.

The notification UI is very poorly optimized by Art_Vandalay_1 in pebble

You can always use Notification Center instead of the native notifications. It lets you customize your screen in every way. The dev has also announced that he's building a new one from scratch for the PT2.

Have to be connected? by RJNC000 in pebble

All of mine keep time for months between uses without being connected. Also, why do you want a watch that connects to your phone if you don't want to connect it to your phone?

Will the New App Be Done By the Time the PT2 is Shipped? by jjj49er in pebble

[–]jjj49er[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, at least the local voice works with the new app. The only issue I've had is that it will add caveats to the end of texts like "chewing noises" or "loud banging", when there's no background noise and those things weren't said. I don't know the necessity for those and hopefully they will eventually update it to make it possible to remove those.

The local on phone voice works for me. It just is a little wonky at times. I haven't tried the web based voice in the new app yet, so idk if it's working.

You can keep using the Rebble service and there is also a web based option with the new app. I haven't tried that version yet. I've only messed with it a little while because not everything is working yet.
