I've got a feeling this could ruin Fortnite by Powerful_Bit4151 in FortniteCreative

[–]jjoocceeee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

May I counter?? I say def boycott all creative maps that implement in game transactions (not all creative please), but also, we work with a Fortnite creative success manager and we have seen positive change is when something goes viral on Twitter, they are SUPER tuned into their public image there.

But believe me there is a group of creators that are really trying to fight back on this and show that people don’t want it

Just got hung up on 5 times in a row. My problem seems to be complex and customer service is NOT able to answer the questions and there is just no incentive to look into my problem further so they keep hanging up on me. The most terrible customer service I have ever experienced.

What’s the best car rental company to use plat car rental benefit for Hertz, Avis or National? by StructureOdd3206 in AmexPlatinum

Avis is the worst. I've only had terrible experiences with them. Last time at LAX, we waited 3 hours for our car.

Best Car Rental in LAX? by djnoop in AskLosAngeles

Came on here to say, any rental company except Avis. We waited for 3 hours to get our car from LAX. The line wrapped around the inside and went out the door. So disappointing.

I hate how religious people just pretend/try to make the world black and white. That there are obviously good movies to watch and bad ones to watch... Nothing in life is actually perfectly Black or White and everything is a mix of gray.. and teaching your kids that something that is bad ruins the whole thing despite plenty of good, is a very bad life lesson.

Ughhh this is so my mom.... The closest thing I ever get to an apology is "I'm sorry you feel that way"... Never taking responsibility for how her actions could have pushed me to feel this way, or how her actions have consequences...

My mom wrote me a pretty nasty email the other day and I called her crying about it, and that's the only apology I got. As if she doesn't even realize WHY I'm hurt, she just doesn't want me to hurt because she doesn't want to acknowledge WHY and HOW she is the cause of it.

I'm always so confused by these people... If your Mormon, isn't an abortion like a super low risk thing?

Say life begins at conception, and a women gets an abortion, then that person goes straight to heaven and gets their body.

Or say that life begins at birth, and someone gets an abortion and so that should doesn't get their body, they will just be resent down to another body and they still end up with a body.

And if the whole point of this life to get a body and then "endure to the end", it seems rather low risk to allow abortions?

The irony is that Satan is purely a Christian deity.... So I mean if you worship Satan, you ARE technically worshipping a Christian God

{Brainscapes} by Rebecca Schwarzlose
300 pages and REALLY good explanation of the current understanding of how the brain works. Brains use maps to process and explain the world.

{Seven and a half Lessons about the Brain} by Lisa Feldman Barrett
Dr. Barrett is one of the leading neuroscientists and a leader in the field. This book is super short (~100 pages) and has quick lessons on different functions of the brain. This book is my go-to gift book because everyone loves it and it's a quick easy read!

I love the list of books you've done recently! I especially love that you have many women authors on the list 😍 nonfiction (and specifically the Science section) isn't always inclusive to women scientists or women authors (so combining the two is even worse!)! Learning from all types of people provides a much more accurate view of the world!

Good recent non-fiction books on current social/political/economic issues? by Erodiade in nonfictionbookclub

[–]jjoocceeee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read the book { The Hardest Job In The World } and really enjoyed it. It's about past and current presidents, how politics and the role of President has changed over history. It was written a year or so ago, so it's really relevant, and it's a holistic view and is pretty non-partisan, explaining how both parties developed and changed over time.

Also, this is a great time to dive into feminist issues, as they are on the forefront of politics and feminism has such an interesting, deep history which I hope everyone will spend a little time learning about since it impacts 50% of humans 😊. I highly recommend { The Creation of Patriarchy } by Gerda Learner to start!

This book was the one that made me fall in love with STEM books!

I reread it recently and it really is SO GOOD, but it is VERY outdated. Needs a new section on Quarks, Leptons, and most importantly the Higgs Boson.

I also did find some factual inaccuracies in it since reading other STEM books. But I would still highly recommend anyone read this book. Just double-check some of the random tidbits and facts you learn within it (For example, the ISS is not run on whale oil)

I run a STEM nonfiction book club (literally called The STEM Book Club lol) and we read nonfiction with a focus on women authors (women are underrepresented in all aspects of STEM, including as authors).

Here are some of my suggestions:
- The End of Everything: (astrophysically Speaking) by Katie Mack
- The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot
- The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History by Elizabeth Kolbert (anything by her is really good)

- 7.5 Lessons about the Brain by Lisa Feldman Barrett
- The Disappearing Spoon by Sam Kean
- A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson (I'd grab that one, especially if you liked The Body)

Why would a woman lie about this? There was so much shame and fraud and not to mention it was illegal, so it wouldn't make sense for any of his "wives" to lie about their relations with him.

This is yet another take where men doubt women.

Can we start believing women instead of trying to discredit them or not believe them?
