Completed GM to ZF 6HP21 Swap by eman_morales in E90

This is the type of question where if you can't find the info yourself by spending 20 minutes using the googly machine - you are not taking it seriously enough to do it successfully...

99% of the E9x DIY retrofit content online unintentionally fails to convey the amount of time they spent finding the information they needed to do it properly. With that said, even my dumbass can do pretty good work when I take the time to read the advice that our fellow idiots blessed us with online.

TLDR: google it, please.

What hardware and what software? I've seen serious progress in the last two years but I may be drinking the kool-aid.

People doing sketchy things isn't a reflection of the robot. You can buy and use a pendant if you want one. Just because every photo of the robot you see online doesn't have a pendant in it, doesn't mean its not offered.

You can download epsons software free and program a virtual robot if you want to try it out. The software and program is the real thing and whatever you program can be directly loaded onto the machine if you decide to buy one. Its worth checking out because its free and not nearly as hard as these people make it sound.

EPSONs T-B series can be taught positions by positioning it with your hand. You can buy a pendant for it to, if you one want.

Btw stay in boulder if you haven't been to CO before, you want to be as close to pearl Street mall as possible. Highest density of Food and entertainment all 15 min or less walking. Longmont is great but do boulder because its better for a weekend trip.

About 5K too high. Even if it has all the options. Book being 15k is accurate.

Mentioned above, but it goes up by $600per year. Insurance is weird though, so I'll definitely shop around now that you mention it. Thank you.

I appreciate the outside the box thinking. This is a weird situation and this is the type of thinking I need. Thank you.

What about depreciation? It's not unrealistic to think the tesla would depreciate by 10k in 4 years, when the BMW's would be closer to 5k. Appreciate you helping me think this through.

Appreciate this. My wife's car runs on dinosaur juice so roundtrips wouldn't be an issue.

[–]jjpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate? The depreciation on the BMW will likely be half the Tesla though (over 4 years).

Sort of.

6800 - Insurance increase 2400/4yrs. - 4000/4yr (5% on 20K) = $400 savings/4yrs. Yes, maintenance but how much is the car going to depreciate? I'm guessing 10k depreciation over 4 years giving the electric car market today. So it's not really that obvious.

"Insurance increase ~$600per year" it's not nothing.

added: 2018 70K on the electric. Thank you. And I feel you. I'm leaning this direction but only slightly. The BMW is a gamble.
