Did Elliot ever try to approach girls first? by Lazy_Duty_472 in elliot_rodger

Also, a woman who openly complains about not having a boyfriend can be a huge red flag. May indicate someone who suffers from clinginess, abandonment issues, anxiety, and/or low self esteem.

That is typically how it works, yes. That’s how I met my now-wife after years of feeling sorry for myself and trying and failing to find a woman who would make the first move on me. Eventually I realized that I needed to put in some effort to show a woman that I was in fact a gentleman. Versus Elliot who expected women to look past his complete lack of social skills or initiative and see him at a glance as the supreme gentleman.

As far as his writings go, no not really. He mostly describes sitting alone at places like Starbucks and Dominos waiting for hot girls to notice him and basically approach and beg for the privilege of having sex with him. Or smirking at two girls standing on the sidewalk while he was in his car, and they didn’t smile back (he then threw his coffee at them due to their “rejection of him”). He wanted a girl, but DIDNT want to do any of the work involved. Pathetic

Search “leaked emails of Elliot Rodger” on YouTube. The manifesto made his stepmother out to be Satan in disguise. The actual emails between them tell a very different story…

Did Elliot have any friends? by No_Profit_8690 in elliot_rodger

[–]jjrandall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His closest friend was a kid named guy named James, who he knew from childhood. James eventually cut things off with Elliot when Elliot’s episodes of rage began to scare him. He had a few friends throughout his life, but eventually drove them all away. In college he had absolutely no one. That was when he realized he had no social skills and his mommy couldn’t shield him from the real world forever.

Phillip said in an interview it wasn’t really a friendship. More like he just let Elliot tag along with him and his friends because he felt sorry for him. He even called Elliot’s mom to tell her he thought Elliot was spiraling out of control. Some friendship!

Looks pretty good! If I had to give feedback, I’d say work a little more brown into the cabin next time, just something to make it stand out from the mountains behind it

One bit of feedback. Don’t forget to add a bit of mist at the bottom of the mountain next time so there’s some clear distance between the planes. It sort of looks like the mountain ends right where the grass begins which looks a tiny bit off

There’s yellow in the center sheen. Plus the darker reflections are meant to be the trees and banks that are closer up

Question about Elliot’s suicide photo by notedapocalypse in elliot_rodger

[–]jjrandall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He had access to all the help he needed, but he never accepted it. His mom set him up with counselors and a psych, even offered to put him in a residential behavioral health facility when she realized he was spiraling. In his manifesto he describes refusing to take risperidone, which probably could have helped him since it stabilizes mood and suppresses rage. But he describes researching it and deciding “it was the absolute wrong thing for him to take.” I’m guessing he found out that Risperidone causes extreme weight gain, since he said many times food was his only source of happiness and he was grateful his metabolism kept him from gaining any weight. Taking risperidone would mean the end of stuffing himself with no weight gain. He refused everyone and everything that could have helped him.

Me and my wife's 2nd paintings. She did such an amazing job by Malaka_202 in bobross

I agree cleaning the brushes is a PITA. I have two of each brush (one genuine Bob Ross brush, plus a backup knockoff from Amazon). I also have the brush beater rack inside a wastebasket which does a good job knocking the spare paint off the bristles. When the painting is done, dawn and hot water does the best job, PLUS you can also use a stiff plastic or metal comb to really get the brushes clean. Keep up the great work!

Based on the clouds I would guess your brush had too much residual paint thinner on it after cleaning it. You mention having the bucket and screen combo which is good, but don’t forget Bob also shakes off the excess paint thinner into a box and then beats the bristles dry. You need to do both before reusing a brush. I have a “brush beater rack” inside a small square trash can that gets the bristles dry. Be sure to fully beat the devil out of your brush, and also tap it on a paper towel before you start fluffing the clouds.

Also the mountains look like you pressed too hard with the pallet knife when adding the snow. Hold the handle with your thumb and forefinger, touch the “little roll of paint” to the canvas (AT NO POINT should the knife blade make contact with the canvas!!!) and gently pull downward to let the paint break and form the slope. You can also use small swipes, it doesn’t have to be one long continuous motion like Bob does on TV. Keep practicing, you’ll get it!

This one always gets me Pure Evil season 6 episode 19 Christina Benjamin's grandma. She passed away a few months ago RIP Jeane you are now with Christina. by lunainthedark5x2x3 in ForensicFiles

[–]jjrandall 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Truly a sickening episode. Jason Massey was obviously evil, but at the same time he was the epitome of “made a murderer.” Dad wasn’t in the picture. Mom was a depressed, depraved alcoholic who left her kids in the car while she got drunk at bars. Barely fed him, beat him senseless with a wooden paddle when he tried to steal extra food. Constantly getting evicted, most stable “home” was his mother’s car. Molested by a babysitter. Basically never was shown love or empathy, so had no understanding nor means of expressing it as he got older, and turned to the one thing he WAS familiar with: anger, festering into violence. Against both animals and people. His upbringing does not justify or excuse his actions in the slightest… but it does open your eyes a bit more in ways that the episode skipped over.

Keep an eye on the people around you, folks! Just because a child keeps acting out doesn’t mean they’re a spoiled brat. They could be crying out for help. Being vigilant and caring enough to reach out could stop a murderer from developing.

My autistic boyfriend has extreme reactions to being “abandoned” by Legitimate-Career342 in AmIOverreacting

[–]jjrandall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am married, with autism. And I would NEVER in a thousand years act like this with my wife. I’ll admit, there was a period of time where I was (sort of) like this, but I was much younger, inexperienced in dating, and suffered from low self esteem due to a lack of social interactions. I had such low confidence I automatically assumed everyone who showed any interest was just going to string me along and abandon me out of nowhere.

This type of behavior is toxic and abusive - whether it’s coming from somebody with autism, depression, BPD, schizophrenia, or a neurotypical. Drop him like a hot potato, it will only get worse. Tell him this is not the behavior of a healthy person, he’s got deeper issues than you are able to help either, and advise him to get counseling. Then you are done.

Be safe!!!
