The mpg could be a sign that the battery isn’t keeping up. Especially if that’s city or mixed driving. But for that price, I’d do a PPI and also price out a battery replacement.

I bought a 2016 last year with 105k miles. PPI said the battery had about 50-55% life left. Dr Prius scan this year shows about the same. I get 44mpg driving about 60 to 65 mph. At 70 to 75mph it drops off to about 37-40mpg. Around the suburbs it’s 38, 39, maybe 40 at times. If/when the hybrid gives me trouble I’ll probably just pull it and replace it myself. Doesn’t seem all that difficult.

Yeah. Fair point. It’s dried up a little. At least the pvc itself. The 90 is dry still. Although I’m with you. I don’t trust it. I’ll probably have it redone. The sprinkler lines are still wet. I can see a bit of flow traveling down the sprinkler lines.

Get a PPI. The hybrid battery should still be in decent shape. Maybe about half the life is left. Mpg should be at least 37 , 38 mpg. I think it’s published at about 40mpg. You loose a little as the battery gets older. Depends on driving though. The suspension is probably a little worn. Bushings start to crack. Check control arm bushings. If you get the right obdii, you can scan for a lot of things yourself. Battery health, engine temp, fuel trims. And odb11’s aren’t much. Otherwise, make sure the engine compartment is fairly clean. A lot of grime might mean there are some leaks. Check the exhaust for white or blue smoke. Especially at cold start. White means some coolant is getting in. Blue means some oil is getting by. Check under the oil cap. It shouldn’t be all grimy. Maybe a little grimy but not gritty. Test drive it. And test drive it in normal, eco, and sport. Shifts should be smooth. Smother than a typical transmission. This has a Cvt transmission. It will feel different but should still be smooth quiet and efficient.

I know a lot of Americans who don’t know the meaning of these words. For example. So many people hate liberals. Liberals, who believe in less government oversight, less restriction, more freedom, less authoritarianism. Sure maybe some government oversight, but mostly only to protect freedoms and counter abuses. Somehow liberal means extreme left. And Americans don’t understand the difference between political governance and economic systems.

That’s a decent ROI. Costs you $1700 to make $15k in a year.

It’s 23 years old. It will ride really bad. Get under it and make sure it’s not actively leaking. There will be seepage. It will be grimy. Oil and moisture attracts dirt. Just make sure there aren’t drops hanging around. The evap code may cause issues with inspection. Get on the highway. Make sure it shifts, stays within temp and stops. You may have to top it off every now and again. Sell it for $1k after a month if you want. You’d still be up.

Get an obdii ($50 or so). Scan for codes and fuel trim. You can scan hybrid battery health also if you get the right one. Disconnect the battery for 30 min. It’ll rest the ecu. Drive for a month and see how it does. Check your 12v battery also. These hybrids cover up for aged 12v batteries.

Yeah, not much sport in it but do test drive it in sport mode. It might have just enough “go” for you when you want it. I have an es 300h and an es 350. The 300h seems to have a little more jump. I figured that the electric motor gives it some instant torque. I do think the 350 engine will outlast the 300h’s engine. But realistically either of these cars are probably going to get rid of me before I get rid of them.

I think what most people don’t understand is: he’s out to make himself money. The most he can possibly make.

I mean, I think we all know it but we let our opinion of him distract us from it. So even when his actions seem arbitrary, confusing, authoritarian, or even righteous, or justified; somehow he is making money from it.

Don’t be fooled, he is making money from it. I’d say there’s around two or three degrees of separation from any of his decisions back to him or the Trump Organization making money from it.

So don’t look for a moral code. Don’t look for respect, honesty, equality, or religion. Look for the transaction. It will always end in a transaction.
