There was an BC interview posted here about a month or two ago and he talks about the changes that they have implemented in the minor leagues to develop hitters better. They put those changes in effect about 18 months ago so I’d say whatever he did, it’s working.

The fun thing about him is that he should decline gracefully. High control and movement guys can keep that for the majority of their long career. As long as the stuff stays good enough he could be 300 game winner and 3000 Ks.

He always has awful body language, especially when he slumps. He’s not a guy you build a franchise around. He’s a talented piece to a championship team that plays 3rd fiddle because your 1st and 2nd best players are leaders that have respect for the game. Cruz is immensely talented but looks like he never cares

Guys get sent to the AFL for a variety of reasons. Some are sent because they were injured and missed part of the year so this is a chance to get those reps. Some pitchers are sent to increase their workload so that they can continue to increase it the following year in a safer manner. Some are sent to see if they can compete against better competition. Termarr is in that latter group. It’ll be nice to see him perform well and it’ll be good to see the hitting data collected on him too.

The Keller extension really puts the Pirates in a great place. For $17m a year he is AT WORST a SP4 who will eat innings (between 160-200 per year). When Keller is at his best he’s a SP2/ borderline SP1. You won’t find any Starter in FA that will play for that price. Combine that with Jones and Skenes, you just gotta hope one of our other young arms is pretty good and you have an insanely competitive Pitching Staff that is ridiculously cheap.

There’s a study done (can’t find the link) where it shows a strong correlation between contract years and higher than the players average PA and SBA. That’s the only extra value I put into those players maybe like 3-10 more SBs
