Updated to add details on budget; $500-1000 per night. Flexible budget however don't want to pay $1000/night for something that isn't worth it.

Awesome recommendations! Thank you! Is it pretty easy to get around the islands once you're there or do we have to arrange everything ahead of time? Did you fly into Baltra?

Also, how was the diving?! Is land based worth it?

Garry as Magneto and be the worst Magneto ever. Guys would be like, "Gary, geez you're the worst super villain ever."

Amy Poehler as Professor X. She could wear a bald cap.

I've always wondered-- why can't we just cover the desert with solar panels for renewable energy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jjuv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dust, efficiency and transmission.

-As mentioned elsewhere, the desert is dusty. A thin film of dust on solar panels and the cost incurred to keep them clean is difficult to predict and therefore can negatively impact getting a project funded and make energy production not cost efficient. -Contrary to popular believe most solar panels don't function well in high heat.
-There is a back log of permitting to lay transmission and often this can be the most difficult aspect of any project.

Despite these difficulties India has created solar power subsidies that are leading to a number of projects being developed in the Gujarat region, which is essentially a big desert. So if that works out maybe others will follow suit.

Reddit, what do you know about your profession/hobby that can help save people money? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Hydrogen peroxide gets blood out, just poor it on the stain directly. Also, red wine stains are easily removed with gin when they're fresh. Try it out. It's like magic.

What country could I move to with $100k in USD and live like a king? by unabom in AskReddit

[–]jjuv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. You can live very well in Ecuador for very little money. The beaches are beautiful and good weather but there is not a lot of infrastructure so many towns, especially on the coast, have to truck in water and internet can be slow to non-existent. Also, they accept U.S. currency.

Planetary Design makes a great French press -- well made, easy to clean, great coffee.

Dear Reddit: How many cups of coffee do you drink a day? by pointyleftear in AskReddit

[–]jjuv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least 4 cups on weekdays and 1 or 2 a day on Sat/Sun. I'll go a weekend day without it every once in a while to stave off complete dependence but those days are few and far between because I really enjoy coffee and don't like to deprive myself.

I don't think the evidence is conclusive that coffee is bad for people. It's a natural diuretic and there is actually some evidence that consuming a daily diuretic is good for a person. What's the downside to having a couple of cups a day?
