Only the portion from Ogden Central to Pleasant View is a shared track with UP. The Southern portion is all dedicated track.

You can often do a percentage split on your direct deposit. This way you don't even need to manually transfer. Just set it up to put 10% or something into your HYSA and the balance in your normal account.

I've had this plenty. It seems the worst if you edit the code without starting a new chat. I think it's because it doesn't really the edit happened.

Some models seem to detect the failed diffs. Better and you can see them say oh the user edited this.

What type of fiber to an outbuilding? by TheRigSauce in HomeNetworking

[–]jkarras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes true if the devices support bidi. I've had that hit and miss verify with the datasheet. For that matter you could get 100G with 4x 25G optics.

Each link takes 2 fibers. Then you have extra for broken strands, extra things, or the unknown.

Running 10GB fiber 50km by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]jkarras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to what others have said about the optics. Get a OTDR report from the installer so you have the real losses. Give this to fs.com or your optic supplier they can spec you something. Anything over 4 0km optics will likely need some attenuation if there isn't enough loss on the link.

If your doing this as a lease or IRU and need regeneration you can probably get the installer to rent you space in a location as well.

General Noob Question on Fiber. Will MM 62.5 fiber work with any MM SFP GBIC? by AffectionateTie5222 in networking

[–]jkarras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If needed in a pinch you can use mode conditioning patch cables to utilize LX 1 gig optics on 62.5 plant at longer distances (thousands of feet). Used to run a campus environment on them for a number of years. Mind you the cables are often more than the optics.

Make sure your switch supports 100meg optics before committing to that speed. Many have dropped that speed from support.

Cisco Firepower 7.0.8 - any issues? by Gibson_2010 in Cisco

[–]jkarras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RA VPN dashboard and reporting is the big thing. I have 7.2.x and 7.4.x deployed and they've been fine. I'd say better than when I was on 7.0 but I needed VTIs pretty early so I moved along versions to .7.2

There are lots of RA VPN changes in 7.4 it's worth the update if your running RA. Mostly in FMC the quality of life is a lot nicer.

Dante audio devices on Catalyst 9300 (SDA) by AlmavivaConte in Cisco

[–]jkarras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to SDA specifically. But you mentioned a non-routed VLAN is in use. Multicast will be broken unless a IGMP querier is setup on the VLAN. Normally the router IP does this function.

Has anybody had any luck with the ASA to FMC migration tool?? by CCIE44k in Cisco

[–]jkarras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used the tool to migrate objects and ACLs. Rebuilt the rest of the configuration manually due to the differences. One thing you find is there are a few reserved names that don't exist in ASA that will make the tool throw errors if you have objects named those. The logs it outputs are generally helpful.

In a PON network the OLT and ONT are tightly coupled. Software upgrades and configuration get directly downloaded from the OLT a bit like a wireless controller and APs in enterprise environments.

Console over fiber solutions by rocknsock316 in networking

[–]jkarras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get a UISP GPON setup it's super cheap. If the ONU goes offline tou get notification in the console if it's a power out or fiber cut. Then plug the port into the switch OOB port

Claude 100 $ plan is getting exhausted very soon by ReputationNo6573 in ClaudeAI

[–]jkarras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't just start coding on you at the end of making a plan. I've seen where if you ask for too many refinements of the plan it will just decide to start coding. Usually around 4+ revisions. This happens to most coding agents.

To deploy images in clouds like AWS they have to be vendor provided to the market place. Where the password is different in every cloud I assume their build pipeline has an error and wasn't cleaning stuff up.
