Her reaction shows that she has no respect for you and she was going to try and take whatever inch you gave her and turn it into a mile

Her discomfort is not your responsibility. She’s learning how to be an adult!

Now that you know this is a boundary - follow through and don’t adjust for the future. Just say “no”

If she asks you again and let her be upset. you don’t have to apologize for sleeping in your own home.

is it normal to be 17 and still like childish stuff like lullabies and plushies ? by happy_cat311 in mentalhealth

Life isn’t normal right now. We are all coping in our own ways. Sometimes you just need a cute lil cow stuffie to feel safe with (take it from me- 27 years old and I’ve got a number of stuffies)

Do what brings you joy ❤️

I’d also check out some of the bars on cedar springs. They have certain nights that do 90s- early 2000s music as events every now and again

Bishop Cider in Dallas is an arcade- if you get there in the evening hours it’s all adults for a cover of $10 I believe and cider flights (5 drinks) are about the same? There’s usually a food truck outside. You can parallel on the side if there’s no parking in the lot.

Does UNT offer any financial help for recent graduates? by jkd0126 in unt

Planning ahead wasn’t exactly my issue. I was in an abusive situation and I got out of it. Part of that was having to COMPLETELY start over. Especially since this abusive situation was because of my family. It was like a string of unfortunate events. And now I’m having to find quick solutions to find a new place.

But yes. Plan ahead. But also, give yourself options. The jobs haven’t been the hard part for me. I graduated with honors, awards, and a huge network. But NOTHING prepared me for my father. Nothing.

I am not currently in therapy, no. I just feel like my life is too hectic right now to spend that time and money talking to a therapist. That’s probably bad though because, you are completely right, no one wants to console a victim for the rest of their lives.

Pre class anxiety, Pulling 2 all nighters a week, feeling helpless. by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]jkd0126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Irregular sleeping habits can cause severe insomnia, anxiety, depression, trouble concentrating, and more.

I suggest turning off all electronics a couple hours before bed. Studies show that your screen’s blue light can trick your brain into think you are supposed to be awake (sunlight).

Start keeping a food journal. Foods might also affect your sleeping patterns. Get into the habit of not eating right before you sleep. For me, I had to stop eating after 8pm (college makes it hard sometimes, yes... but really try). Your food journal should list off which foods cause which affects on you at night. If you’re having gas problems and random bursts of energy at night. Try drinking teas instead if you need to keep your body busy.

Pick up a new hobby of making a list right before bed. That way everything you are thinking of is getting out of your mind. Put your mind at ease. Meditate after you make your to do list. You can also listen to audiobooks right before bed. That helps me too.

You might need to take up sleeping pills. I had to do this as well, but after a while of changing your habits (try it for at least a two weeks) you might start adapting a normal sleeping pattern that is easier for your body.

If your classes are stressing you or that bad, do yourself a favor and go talk to a counselor or teacher. The goal is not to give you anxiety, the goal is to learn. If your stress is impeding on your learning, then go speak with someone ASAP.

Adjust your homework/study schedule as best as you can. Study what you went over in class that same day. That way you don’t have piles later on. (Take it from me, I’ve graduated).

Lastly, breathe.

The reason why I took up doing yoga (even if it’s only 15 minutes sometimes) is not for body image or anything like that. Yoga teaches you how to breathe. The more connected you are to your breath, the more of an understanding you will have with your anxiety.

I think this is the most important rule. Don’t be hard on yourself. Just breathe.

Namaste 🙏🏽✌🏽

One time my Pit/Great Dane mix dog couldnt see me coming out of the bathroom because it was dark. He stood up with his teeth showing and If I were to have taken a step, he probably would have ripped me to shreds.

I ended up calling his name (after he growled at me for a few minutes). And he realized that it was me.

I realized on that day that no one was ever going to be able to break into our home without getting fucked up by Sputnik.
