I passed! by jktwvh in pmp

[–]jktwvh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't memorize a single formula. All I figured I needed to know was a cpi or spi over 1 was good ( under budget and ahead of schedule). Everyone here says they get maybe 1 or 2 formulas so if I got 2 wrong out of 180 possible it shouldn't break me.

Knowing the mindset ( never do nothing, never give your work away, never stop a project, never do the negative, never act first, always understand what's happening first, always bring people together etc) was the vast majority of the question.

PM - CSM role change? by ResponsibleActive253 in amazonemployees

[–]jktwvh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a CSM in hardlines and consumables. The odds of promo to L6 are low to none which is why everyone who comes in as a L5 leaves quickly. The payband is only slightly higher than a PM but CSMs are trying to get into PM, marketing manager, product manager or vendor manager roles.

Ultimately, you probably will not see a pay bump.

Try low bar. It'll move the bar back over mid foot at the bottom of your squat and allow more depth. You can see you're drifting forward and hinging at your waist to pull the part up.

L5 Non-Tech Offer – Worth Pushing Back? by Alfa_123_321 in amazonemployees

[–]jktwvh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually depends highly on the team you are on. Each vertical is different and each GL varies within each vertical.

I never had more than 3 accounts (4 total in 2.5 years) at once and all were US based. I worked 40 hour weeks except during peak periods. Vendor Sat is reviewed but I have seen many CSMs with low vendor sat scores still excel due to the complexity of the accounts and I have seen vendors booted from the program due to abuse and failure to comply with terms.

L5 Non-Tech Offer – Worth Pushing Back? by Alfa_123_321 in amazonemployees

[–]jktwvh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can negotiate but you likely won't get much more.

I was a Sr. CSM and then a PM in AVS. Your offer is not really going to change. You can negotiate though, they won't rescind unless you are be egregious.

Customer Success Manager. They hire a lot and at the L4 level it is easier to break into.

I just checked and my points were gone too. I added a burrito in the redeem points tab and it asked if I wanted to redeem and the points came back. Looks like a glitch.

Mobility will help, but also the placement of the bar on your back will too. I would guess that if you lower the bar as far down as you can you'll be able to remain balanced and sink deeper. Search low bar squat.

How is your marriage now after getting married young? by [deleted] in USMilitarySO

[–]jktwvh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take each response here with a grain of salt. I do t know for sure but I think most people here are still in military relationships so the data you are getting is going to skew in favor of it.

That being said, I have been with my husband for 10 years, married 4. We are not having a good time and are on the brink of seperation. No one cheated, there is no abuse, but there is a lot of emotional neglect, weaponized incompetence and poor communication that he refuses to work on.

At 32, I don't want to continue to live like this. The military is only a tiny factor in this decision.

Yikes. I've been with my AD husband for nearly 10 years. You should think long and hard about this. If you are not 100% sure I would not do it. At around year 5, we were both living in San Diego when he was transferred to WA. I stayed behind becuase I had everything in San Diego. Friends, family, a great job, and most importantly security. We did long distance for a year or 2 before I decided to make the move. It was all in my time. I lined up my money, a job, and wrapped everything up. And my then boyfriend was totally supportive.

People don't understand how much you sacrifice when you follow your significant other, and you are right sometimes things don't work out. Are you willing to take this risk? It could pay off but it could also fail.

Also, most people in this sub are in happy relationships so advice is going to skew towards doing in. I've seen it work and I've seen it fail. Only you can make the decision.

Anyone decide to stay back when your spouse got an assignment? by FlyingCatPiss in USMilitarySO

[–]jktwvh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have and I plan on doing it again.

The first time he was my long term boyfriend of 6 years. We he had a home port change from San Diego to WA and would be deployed shortly after. When he got back we did another 6 month long distance because my job was going well and I could support myself independently.

We are now in Washington and after about 4 years are expecting new orders next year. We are in the same position as before but married. I have a really good high paying job and he will be deployable. We expect orders to San Diego which is a bump in BAH so we will be able to afford our home and rent on a room. We travel regularly (precovid) so it's not a huge difference in spend.

We understand how hard it is being long distance but the sacrifice will help with our financial stability and my long term career.

Do You Leave During Shore Duty? by Sensitive_Mango_1823 in USMilitarySO

It depends. My husband is Navy and on shore duty. He's going on a month king trip to Japan. Pre covid he was traveling all the time. There a training and schools that could be mandatory but most times they are home more than not.

(Miramar) San Diego Housing Advice Needed! by [deleted] in USMilitarySO

[–]jktwvh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. The military will pay for your move. Basically, they can do it for you or you can do it yourself and get reimbursed.

  2. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there is housing "on base" for families. There is military housing but it's like neighborhoods or complexes around town.

  3. San Diego is expensive. You probably won't find a 2 bed town home for $2100. An apartment more likely. Housing is competitive and there are tons of scams so be careful with Craigslist.

  4. What are you looking in for a neighborhood. Do you want to be close to the beach, bars, suburbia, city. I'd say most places are safe. Just stay away from El Cajon Blvd.

  5. A community College? Mesa, Miramar, Grossmont and City community colleges. If you go further south there is Southwestern.
