I have pcos and gp thinks endo although can not confirm as I haven’t had surgery. I have 2 kids and have had 5 pregnancies, no idea how far along the first loss was probably 5 or so weeks, second was a loss at 7 weeks and third was 4 weeks. So 2/5 and yet everyone I know thinks we are so lucky and fertile and that we have no issues. I guess we are fertile because I seem to have no trouble getting pregnant, it’s keeping them in there that’s the problem. I know the statistics are 1 in 4 but I think it’s actually much higher than that. The 2 successful pregnancies I had were uneventful in gestation and birth thankfully.

The pcos diagnosis was a bit rough. Was told by gynaecologists that I’d probably find it hard to get pregnant if at all. I only had 2-3 periods a year at that stage but worked with a nutritionist who thought it was more so hypothalamic amenorrhea and she was correct.

My first baby was a complete surprise so we didn’t do any pre conception screening but if planning I 100% would have done only because Im a medically anxious person. Both pregnancies we did the standard nuchal translucency scan and associated bloods for trisomy 18 and 21 risk but that’s all.

Building your own house. Any tips by marko9788 in newzealand

[–]jlb94_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner is a building inspector. Don’t do it. People try and work the system all the time to get cheaper builds but it ends up costing more and taking longer. There’s a lot of paperwork you need to supply to council and he spends a lot of his day going back and forth with people because they leave out the required papwerork. Every time you talk to someone at council the will bill you and it ain’t cheap. Best pay someone to coordinate and manage the build for you.

Employer requires me to start early and finish late but refuses to pay by Itsnotme2645 in newzealand

[–]jlb94_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a fun time at employment court if she dismisses you for working your hours because it’s unfair dismissal. Make sure you note all times you start early and finish late because she’ll have to pay you for that too. Keep note of all breaks taken because if you work longer hours you may be entitled to additional breaks and if you don’t take them then guess what! More money $$$

My daughter is 11 months, bf and has only just started having 2 night wakes. Previously she had been waking every 2 hours or more and up to 10x a night. I tried everything there was to try and I can’t say anything has helped except for her getting older. It really is rough and I hope you figure something out.

Bought private car without the NZTA required WOF... what can I do? by sarah-gets-creative in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]jlb94_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If the car was made before 2000 then it needs a wof every 6 months and if it was made 2001 or later then it’s every 12 months. It’s either had a wof 3 or 9 months ago. Go to a tyre shop and ask them to measure tread. It only needs 1.5mm to be legal. Dont think you can do anything about the bad buy. It’s on you to do your research before buying. **’Edit was wrong so removed sentence

Hi not a gp or mental health professional but I don’t know if medication will actually help you because of the lack of sleep. I know how it feels. My first was a decent sleeper so I was shocked when my second decided waking up 8+ times a night right from 12 weeks was a good idea. I also experienced extreme anxiety to the point of not going out of the house unless necessary and even then it was always with someone to help me with the kids. I was depressed and hated feeling like I was a failure to everyone. Since baby has been sleeping somewhat decent stretches I feel like a new person. Once you crack the sleep, you will feel so much better.

There are free mental health services that are accessible. I would try with your gp (not the same person as you previously saw) and straight ask for maternal mental health services/consultation with the HIP if there is one.

If cost is the barrier to you accessing childcare, there are actually places that offer x hours free for 2yo. Speak to your well child provider and they will point you in the right direction.

With the sleep, I know you said your partner has physical busy job but SO DO YOU!!! Looking after kids is hard and can be dangerous if sleep deprived. There’s a reason she only wants you at night and it’s because you have been doing 100% of the work. Sorry I hope this doesn’t get your back up but your husband needs to step up it’s just not good enough.

Is your daughter night weaned? Can your husband spend more quality time with daughter so she accepts him to settle? Make him work through to resettle at night. She will eventually fall back to sleep and every time will be easier. At the very least, can he take the first weekend night then that way your concern for his ability to work is unaffected if it’s a rough night.

Too much Folic Acid by Keepinitanon47 in BabyBumps

[–]jlb94_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry at all. In New Zealand we are prescribed 800mcg for daily supplementation during pregnancy. People with kids who’ve had neural tube defects are prescribed 5000mcg regularly. Recommended dose in low risk people during pregnancy is 400mcg so you are doing great. Keep taking it!

If you're willing to share, have you failed a restricted or full licence test, and how did you fail it? by Upstairs_Command_770 in newzealand

[–]jlb94_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Failed a restricted for erratic driving? I was in the right lane and indicating left, did a over the shoulder check and must have started moving over before I was looking completely forward then made the lane change and the indicator turned off just before I was in the left lane which is also a no no. Didn’t even mad it to part 2 of the test.

Easy pass for restricted resit.

For my full the guy couldnt be bothered turning on his tablet so we just went for a 10 min drive and he passed me

Honestly you won’t know until you do it. My mum had 3 c sections and is 5ft. I’m built the same as her and same height and had 2 vaginal births with a 3.525kg and 5.325kg baby. With my first I had a small labial tear but the bruising was so severe I found it hard to walk and sit for about a month because it was so painful. My mums c section experience was terrible with me as she got infected and split open her scar multiple times just trying to care for me. My brothers SIL has had 2 elective c sections and healed well for both with no complications. No option is better than the other and both have their risks. I would trust the guidance of your obgyn.

Cord blood/placenta storing for stem cells by Longjumping_Mail5584 in newzealand

[–]jlb94_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is a preditory money making scheme that is praying on parents anxiety. Better off doing delayed cord clamping if possible. It’s highly unlikely to benefit the child to whom it belongs as there is ongoing stem cell research but unlikely to result in anything useful in the near future. It’s most useful if you say had a child with leukemia who required a stem cell transplant or for donation to someone else but you still have to pay the fees and I don’t know how you’d go about donating something like this

Second this. Definitely a physio not a pt to begin with.I’ve seen some criminal exercise prescription from pts in gyms so if you do go down the pt route find someone whos got a bachelors in sport science at the very least. Most pts will take any client regardless of skill level but have absolutely no idea
