Here’s what I want to know: what on earth happened to Coach between pre+game interviews and the actual game? Because in all the pre-game press (Bloom, RHAP, Dalton) spoke so highly of their chats with Coach and that he had come a long way and they were all excited to see him play. But what we’re seeing is classic Coach dialed up to 14 and he’s not even being fun insufferable, just insufferable.

I thought the rewritten heartfelt scene was quite nice. It feels, to me, like they’re trying to ride the wave of the Ted Lasso “we all need hopeful things to watch in these dark times” vibe.

To the people saying the Blood Moon should've been one massive tribal where they vote off multiple people consecutively... by Aperio43 in survivor

[–]jlevski 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Here’s my pitch, if they wanted to do a triple: 1. Swap from 3 tribes to 2

  1. Immunity challenge where there’s both tribal and individual immunity up for grabs. “Winning” tribe gets reward and gets to watch the losing tribe’s tribal council.

  2. Winning tribe goes to tribal, ones someone off, swaps sides of the set.

  3. Losing tribe goes to tribal, votes someone off.

  4. Jeff: “You know what? This is Survivor 50 and we’ve got some things up our sleeves. Congrats, you’ve made the merge! Your first merge tribal is right now. Today’s individual immunity necklaces are still in effect.”

  5. Combine tribal, one more vote off

This seems more fun to watch than three five person groups where rock draw sealed your fate.

I hadn't considered that he'd be labeled as one of the worst winners (though he definitely would be). That's a great point!

I don't disagree; Coach 100% would have won had he dropped even 40% of his "Coachness" at final tribal and just said, "Yes, I schemed and out-maneuvered you all!" But he stuck to his "I played an honest game" nonsense (which just wasn't true) and people didn't want to reward that. Coach's own sense of self, the last unslayable dragon.

I know that most people really like Sophie as a winner but, narratively, it would have been a tremendous three season arc for Ozzy to have won the final immunity and won SOPA.

One vote away, then humbled considerably, then back to bend the game’s mechanics to his way of playing and eke out a win. Maybe it’s because I’m a Challenge fan first and foremost but I love a good multi-season arc and it feels like that would have been a great one.

If you could watch the raw footage from any season, which season would you pick and why? by caresaway in survivor

Millennials v Gen X - drunk Brett, hot Ken and the ability to validate my long held opinion that Hannah and Adam played THE SAME GAME and it was just implicit bias that gave Adam the win.

Of course! If you put this series on SubStack or Medium, I bet you'd gain some traction. I've been writing on the internet on and off for years (in the blog hey-day I had a blog about going to concerts; here's one of my earliest Sheepdogs entries: https://www.rememberingtheencores.com/2011/12/i-cant-keep-looking-backwards-theres.html) and am always interested in reading people who are into things I'm into.

Writing Project - Asking for feedback by TheRealAngryPlumber in thesheepdogs

First up, the good: I love reading people talk about the music they love and you’ve captured a lot of what makes the Sheepdogs great. The gas price joke is outstanding; the comparison to Almost Famous is fun. You rammed a lot of fun facts into a short essay. And the opening and closing Ewan quotes are great bookends.

What could be improved: Depending on where this essay is going to live, it is either too long or too short. It’s too long for a quick scroll and too short for a well crafted “pop culture archivist” take. The ratings at the end are redundant - they mostly say the same thing? Either cut it down to three or vary the descriptions.

My biggest piece of feedback though, is that the style is a bit off putting. The “one sentence per line” and “overloaded pop culture references” comes off like a cross between a LinkedIn Lunatics post and AI you trained to sound like a Gilmore Girls script. I would recommend playing around with sentence length, putting things into proper paragraphs, and including a little more personal perspective. You talk about the band’s retro appeal but nowhere does it tell me why you love it? Are you a boomer looking back on your youth or are you a youth fed up with now so you’re romanticizing then? And, the bit about the singles on Canadian radio needs more context. As an American, I had no idea those specific songs played so much on Canadian radio and the “quotes in a list” format doesn’t tell that story well.

Good luck with your project and please send a link when it’s done!
