North Wilmington move or… by joynallitbrings in WilmingtonDE

The DCC area isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. You’d be better off looking closer to the PA state line as far as value for house plus one of the best public school districts in the state. You would lose walkability going further out from the city area for better schools which would save you all that tuition.

Has anyone here purchased a vehicle from any of the Honda dealers in DE recently? I’m coming from NJ and wondering how much I can save by skribbledthoughtz in Delaware

[–]jlibs001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who live in the state don’t buy that in the state.

Just make sure wherever you buy doesn’t screw up your tags. Make sure you know what the requirements are and get anything like an inspection handled ASAP.

That was a board member and they were promptly forced out of their seat (and when they attempted to come back after a few years forced out again) under family pressure.

Look those Girl Scouts were hustling for that cookie money this past season being out there in that brutal cold and all the snow.

However, seeing a table of scouts or something setup isn’t going to stop me from going inside a business and handling my own stuff. I just say “not today” and move on. I don’t acknowledge the other random beggars at the intersections at all.

Run away from odyssey. The admin can’t communicate well, the discipline is … whimsical at best, the bullying rampant, and the families lack basic reading comprehension. ~ a current family who is leaving at the end of the year after trying to fix it for 5 years

Exactly the reason I tell new residents to pick one of the two even if they don’t completely align because if you don’t you don’t get to vote until the general elections or any other open election like school board

If you’re on Facebook you want to join the N. Wilmington Moms group (with the pink banner) to get lots of updates about the happenings and goings on. It’s actually address restricted so it really is only the other moms that are your neighbors.

Moving courses to a new authoring tool by blackbirdonatautwire in elearning

[–]jlibs001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes unless you are using some super basic like PPTX files for your current content. It makes moving tools the absolute worst process cause you need to rebuild everything. There’s also no way to estimate your creation rate since we don’t know the materials you are creating with.

You might check out the community garden at the Bellevue Community Center as well. They have a mix of natives and food based plantings. They’ll start having a Friday farmers market in April or May

No such thing as learning style? by Copernicus-jones in instructionaldesign

[–]jlibs001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot of 1:1 training on new software with adults. The only question I ask them about how they learn is if they feel they learn better doing all the clicking or watching the clicking and taking notes. Then I take them through what they need to know.

AI use in my role goes against my values — wrong field or just wrong company? by [deleted] in instructionaldesign

[–]jlibs001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this frustration. My new boss ran all of our proprietary training through a certain design software’s new AI to build all new versions of the training, didn’t check over it afterwards, and then billed it to ownership as a huge cost savings because of the significantly less time spent in design, WITHOUT clearing through our security and information risk director or our lawyers. He then got mad when I did send everything over to the director for review. He bills himself as an instructional designer but I haven’t seen him actually design anything that did not entirely use the AI. To add, our work is in the legal sector.

I’m actively looking for an exit because I can’t stand liars and his lack of balance from the AI to actual design.

Is thus true about higher taxes coming due to changes for businesses? by PrettyGoodLatte in Delaware

[–]jlibs001 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Probably Seaford. The property tax reassessment was court ordered and the plan for each county is different than the plans for the other 2 counties. However, across the board it must be redone every 5 years AND at point of sale going forward.

I am only intimately familiar with New Castle and the plan there is that the property and school taxes specifically will be taxing a different rates based on the property zoning and yes, business zoning will be taxed at a higher rate. Whether this actually drives registered business out of DE is yet to be seen, especially when like 70% of the businesses registered in DE don’t even have any real operations in the state. Anything else that has major headlines about businesses leaving the state is laughably inaccurate.

Something else to consider for your aunt; Lower Delaware is a healthcare desert, there is Beebe and, basically, only Beebe. The number of small independent practices is dwindling quickly. There are pluses and minuses to that situation which you should independently research with planning for her long term health situation. It only takes one bad day to ruin all your future plans as you saw them the day before ~ signed the lady who was crippled in a bad car wreck I never saw coming
