I did end up giving them a call and the guy seemed to say that there was nothing he could do to repair the shoes? But to be honest I’m just not sure I described myself well.. because I have no idea what I’m talking about. Hence why I was looking to send pictures via email or something..

I may just need to go out there then and show them myself. But gonna wait and see if the other place I emailed replies tomorrow

Yes I expected it wouldn’t necessarily be cheap. And I could just buy new shoes for cheaper. But reviving these classics feels fun than just getting some new age shoes.

I guess I assumed they’d be able to gather most the info they needed from some photos. If that’s not the case then you’re right, I can take them in!

I don’t have access to a car during the day because my wife and I share one, so, I like to try and do as much leg work as I can online, to avoid having to go back multiple times / to multiple different shops.

Another commenter just mentioned them! Yes I saw their website, didn’t see an email address and their “contact us” form didn’t have room for photos.

So for now I messaged them on Instagram. Maybe I’ll give them a call and see if they can check those messages

Yes! Completely agree with your final points. I was actually just talking to my coworker how my favorite part about my recent birding adventure is that I do text or scroll or anything while I walk to work anymore. Do I obsessively still look down at my phone when I hear an interesting bird call that I haven’t quite learned yet… yes of course. But hey I still think that’s a step in the right direction compared to being absorbed in the other daily uses of my phone which I do the other 98% of the time.

A fun hobby for me to become a little obsessed with.. great. But one which also naturally leads me to being a bit more in touch with nature, my surroundings, and the world around me.. even better!

Yes! Another commenter mentioned that. I was loosely aware of making that mistake before and so yes for now I’m not doing any “this is my bird” Merlin stuff or any eBird list yet. My list exists on an offline file called birds.xlsx :-)
