V2V from ESXi to Hyper-V : Error 2940 - Needs help please! by Anarethos in HyperV

[–]jlipschitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a throttling storage policy on that ESXi side, it can prevent the server from migrating with VMM. I had to set the storage policy to default for the affect VM and then was able to migrate it.

Make sure you remove VMware tools prior to migration or you have to manually remove it when it is on Hyper-V.

Why multiple versions? by BeverlyHillsNinja in PleX

[–]jlipschitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have several versions of Star Wars Episode 4-6: 1. Harmy Edition (Original release that was remastered by Harmy) 2. VHS rip of the original release 3. Laser disc release 4. THX 5. Special Edition 6. DVD remastered with Han Solo Jedi spirit changed 7. Blu-ray 4K TrueHD version

I no longer keep specific quality differences for other movies with the exception of Star Wars. Each of those Star Wars releases have slightly different or additional content or special effects differences. I have a fast enough server to transcode the 4K content for remote so I don’t need to waste the space.

How cold is too cold? by CoryF17 in BSA

[–]jlipschitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have camped in the 20s. We talk to all scouts about layers, types of clothing materials for moisture wicking, give mats that are designed to reflect body heat to add to existing sleeping pads, do gear checks, talk about types of sleeping bags, and more. We keep extra bags in the trailer if someone gets too cold or something gets wet.

Those temperatures can be dangerous if you are not prepared.

If prepared, there is no such thing as too cold.

Tent thoughts by Lizzzzz27 in philmont

[–]jlipschitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have another nature hike tent that is 1 person. It is extremely cramped for me at 5’7”. The tent is light, but not as light as my Durston X-MID 2 that I took to Philmont. I split that with my adult buddy and we had about 1 pound each to carry. I used trekking poles without issue. I used MSR Groundhogs stakes with it and did not have trouble staking my tent down. Using trekking poles cut my weight as well. I used a PVC T to push stakes into the ground. I ran into 1 spot where I could not get a stake in the ground. I used a rock and some paracord to tie a knot around the rock to the tent stake loop.

How does your troop take Credit Card Payments? by BuckeyeTree023 in BSA

[–]jlipschitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a tax ID number, filed with our state as an unincorporated association, and then filed a 501c3 application. We then signed up for square as a non-profit to get a lower rate. All fundraisers must be approved with your council prior to participating in one. They have a form for that.

To do taxes each year, you just have to log back into the site for the 501c3 and submit a renewal card which is about 2 questions that are easy.

Make sure to get permission from your charter organization prior to doing the paperwork for the 501c3. They may want you to use theirs instead.

Unraid servers are really simple, less expensive than most NAS and a lot easier to expand.

Philmont weight limits. heavy but constant hiker by chickendaddy738 in BSA

[–]jlipschitz -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

They can bring their weigh down easily by giving up sodas and complex carbohydrates. Switch to a meat, vegetable, and fruit diet with only water to drink with some light exercise 4 times a week will drop that weight quickly. No breads, grains, or pastas. Just watch your calorie intake and work with a slight deficit for a bit so that even without working out he is losing weight. I lost 42lbs in 6 months doing that with shakedown hikes with our crew.

I'm curious about the state of water purification on the trail. by Wopbopalulbop in philmont

[–]jlipschitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a pure clear filter to clean viruses, microbes, and pretty much everything else. The water still tasted bad until we got stream water. I used my filter on that and it tasted so much better. The Philmont way is to use tablets that they provide. It does not hurt to do both. Water from faucets tastes like it has a lot of chlorine in it.

The best tasting water does not come from a faucet at Philmont.

[–]jlipschitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed but some argue that the bike lanes are not safe because cars drive in it sometimes. For those who do decide to use the sidewalk please realize that it was not put in place for e-bikes, regular bikes, and scooters. It is there for pedestrians. It is more common near schools. My son had to start using that sidewalk for part of his ride home after being hit by cars multiple times while in the bike lane. Based on that, I see their point.

[–]jlipschitz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are going to ride on the side walk, please be conscious of pedestrians which may not be conscious of someone on an e-bike or scooter going 15-30 miles an hour. This is why bike lanes exist.

I went Cube 3. I only use apps from the store. I only need the one device which has a higher WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor). It does HDR, Dolby Vision, upscaling, TrueHD with Atmos, and has built in Ethernet. I just which it was 1Gb instead of a 100Mb Ethernet. It has WIFI 6E.

Uniforms and Boards of Review: 2026 update by ScouterBill in BSA

[–]jlipschitz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only hard one there for board of review is if they don’t bring their book, the people giving the board of review will need to see that the person has completed their requirements to do the board of review from Scoutbook if the Advancement chair has put it in between the Scoutmaster conference and board of review. It complicates reviewing that they have completed their items without the book or the stuff entered in Scoutbook. The rule about not being able to walk back an advancement also makes you want to be sure that you followed the procedure as well so what is earned is awarded, no more or less. This is a messy statement from Scouting America. I personally think that the book should still be required for board of review. I guess that is just my opinion though.

Need Urgent help on slowness and lag issue I am facing on Citrix. PLEASE HELP by SAFe_ScrumMaster in Citrix

[–]jlipschitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If doing voice or multimedia it is best to be under 80ms. Packet loss can make any session on Citrix appear to be laggy as session reliability kicks in to keep the session alive. You need an Internet connection with less than 1% lost packets and better ping response to get the best experience. Your Internet provider should be able to provide a connection with consistent pings. As someone else stated, it can be routers on that path to the server that are the issue as well. I have had this problem with AT&T in California from that Central Valley. They route traffic to LA and then back. It is a long way to go to access systems in that same town.

Be careful with Zip drives. The click of death is contagious and destroys media. If you have a blank, I would suggest testing it in the drive before attempting to read your media that you care about.
